FRIDAY, MAY 4: The softball playoffs continued with KPMG and PWC advancing to the C Division semi-finals at the Michael Preece Softball Stadium.

C Division

KPMG swept its series against BGA. The accountants won the first game 16 to 10 as Juan Federico (2-3) paced them with two home runs. Pitcher Justin Toribio and left fielder Bryan Thomas helped set the table by going 3-5 and 4-5 respectively. Tom Fitzgerald helped put the game out of a reach with a fifth inning grand slam.

Donny Moniz (3-3) and Alan Outerbridge (2-3) both homered for BGA who also had Tony Mouchette and Mark Finnigan go 2-3.

KPMG put the hammer down in the second contest with a 23 to 7 mercy victory.

Adam Smith, Phil Philpott and Federico were all 4-4 with Smith and Federico homering. Tom Fitzgerald (3-3) was also perfect at the plate with a homer.

Alan Outerbridge (2-3) homered and drove in four of BGA’s runs. Phillip Anderson was 3-3 in the losing cause.

PWC took its two game series from Black Magic, but had some help as Black Magic defaulted the first game.

The second game saw PWC score eight runs in the second inning and never look back as they cruised to a 25 to 15 triumph. Jari Ming (5-5) drove in seven runs and hit two homers in the victory. Teammate Scott Slater (4-5) also homered twice while Brandon Chessman (3-4) and Zack Rothman (3-5) had good turns at the plate.

Nelson Arruda (3-4) drove in four runs for Black Magic and Troyunde Davis was 4-4.

Women’s Division

Atlantic Stitches sewed up a victory against the Wett & Wild Zebras in their first game of their series with a four run fourth inning as they won 16 to 11. The Stitches started strongly by pushing six runs across the plate in the first as Netra Dill picked up two RBI.
