June 22: Sports Shorts - Derby winner Breary heads track team at Island Games
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 22:
Track
The Bermuda Track and Field Association announced an eight-member team for the Island Games team.
Donna Watson, BTFA president, said: “We would have liked to have a bigger team but due to the timing, some of the athletes were unavailable due to school commitments and some travelling to other meets. The team is strong and we expect some good results.”
Representing Bermuda: Deon Breary, Jennifer Alen, Victoria Clarke, Shianne Smith, Melissa Clarke, Sean Trott, Gary Raynor and Stephen Allen.
Softball
The Summer Softball League AGM will be held at the Robin Hood upstairs lounge on June 29 at 6pm. Anyone interested in putting in a team for the summer league should attend this meeting.
Cricket
The BCB Summer Cricket Clinic still has space available. The Clinic runs from 9am-3pm at Berkeley Institute and costs $100 a week starting July 4 finishing on August 5. The camp is for boys and girls seven to 13. Parents have the option to sign up their children for one week up to all five weeks of the camp.
The Summer Cricket Clinic gives enthusiastic young cricketers the opportunity to learn and improve upon the basics of bowling, catching and batting with an emphasis on participation, team spirit and fun! Players participate in regular games against each other and other camps.
Soup Zuill Memorial

Players are requested to RSVP as soon as possible. The rain date Sunday September 25 at same venue and time.
The Warrington ‘Soup’ Zuill Memorial Primary School Youth Cricket Festival is scheduled for Saturday, September 17 at St. David’s. The matches will start at 9am.
Schools will be put into three groups.
East: East End, St. George’s Prep, St. David’s, Harrington Sound, Francis Patton and Elliott. Central: West Pembroke, Northlands, Victor Scott, Prospect, Gilbert, Somersfield. West: Purvis, Heron Bay, Dalton Tucker, West End, Somerset and Paget.
