THURSDAY, AUGUST 4, 1PM UPDATE: The Western Counties Cricket Association (WCCA) has released the full squads that will compete in Saturday’s ‘Clash of the Counties’ at Somerset Cricket Club.

ICC World Cup veteran Malachi Jones will lead a star-studded Western Counties XI that will take on an Eastern Counties XI.

The Willow Cuts seamer has been named as captain of a Western Counties XI that consists of four players that took part in last week’s thrilling Cup Match classic at Wellington Oval.

The full Western Counties XI is as follows: Malachi Jones (capt), Kamau Leverock (vice-capt), George O’Brien Jr, Deunte Darrell, Chris Douglas, Jason Anderson, Charles Symons, Donnie Charles, Noel Woods, Shonari Boyles-Simons, Benjamin James, Cameron Gordon and Tristen Smith.

The Western Counties XI will be coached by Alfred Carter and Lorenzo Tucker.

The Eastern Counties XI will be led by Terryn Fray, who is one of three Cup Match players in the team.

The remainder of the Eastern Counties XI is comprised of Allan Douglas jr (vice-capt), Cal Dill, Denico Hollis, Tre Govia, Damali Bell, Mackai Young, Dennis Mussen jr, Jordan Wilkin, Regino Smith, Jonathan Marion, Vernon Eve, David Bedard and Logan Phillips.

Noel Gibbons and Allan Douglas have been appointed as coaches of the Eastern Counties XI.

Saturday’s 50 over match gets underway at 11am.

Another match between the two teams has been scheduled for Sea Breeze Oval on August 27.

The two exhibition matches will only feature players involved in this summer’s Western and Eastern Counties competitions.

Gary Dowling, WCCA president, said: “We are going to see some very exciting cricket, which would be a good follow up to what was an exciting Cup Match this year. Hopefully we get a large turnout.”

Admission is $10 at the gate.
