It's official - I'm running as an independent in Pembroke S. East

FRIDAY, NOV. 23: Across Bermuda, many people are focused on the economy. But in order to create solutions to the economic challenges on the island, everyone — from the bottom to the top — must not only contribute but be an active and integral part of the economy.

Prior to injecting the various components that will redeem our economic plight, there is one aspect of the paradigm shift vehicle that seems to be a thorn in the minds of the loyalist followers of our political institutions. There are a slew of respondents that believe any person intent on participating in Bermuda’s political arena can only be on the playing field if they are on either one of the listed two teams.

The truth is, while we live on an island that claims democracy is the flag we stand under, the verbal, political denial of many contradicts that fact.

The truth is, if the only method we have to be a part of the solution aspect of our colony home, is to ride under either of the two institutions, than that limits us to engage with a minimal analysis scope, when seeking resolutions.

Of the 360 degrees of potential answers that are possible, we are using less than 2% observation points. Just imagine if each voting district had a potent active injecture.

Far too often, the people are asked to perform only on election day, then get frustrated when those they delegated to the hill of decision refuse to consider the electors, out of loyalty to the leader and institutions they stand under.

The idea of having an independent representative will infuse a continuous participation vehicle for the people — especially those who reside in Constituency 21. As the elected representative of that constituency, I would be there to serve voters starting on December 18, 2012. I would not be there to focus on either party, as such it is my intent to keep them actively involved in the decision-making process in Bermuda.

I will follow this column with a platform that will not only re-energise the community of District 21, but will invigorate the community of Bermuda.
