Iris to fight for world title
Talia Iris will be battling for a world title at next week’s Fight Night.
The annual event put has been dubbed Fight Night XIII: Battle of Bermuda and will 11 bouts in both traditional boxing and Muay Thai.
Iris will take on Canadian Ashley Nichols for the Women’s World Muay Thai Federation Continental Female Title.
That will be one of six Muay Thai fights.
The headlining bout will feature Canadian Jeremy Hawkrigg against popular local favourite Jermal Woolridge from the Bermuda Sanshou Association (BSA).
The Bermuda Karate Institute’s Deondre Morris will open the Muay Thai portion of the fight card.
John Mirasol will also represent BKI as he takes on Canadian Daniel Kechecho-Best.
Canadian Shayne Dejarden will fight BSA’s Samir Furquan and the BSA’s Reyel Brown will try to take down Robert Thomas of Canada in the other two Muay Thai bouts.
The night will open with traditional boxing with the Island Press’ Marc Lonergan and Jerun Gunness getting the night’s festivities underway.
Other bouts will feature Shaun Richards v David ‘Kwame’ McHugh, James Cartwright v Khalid Pitcher, Chris Wilson v Ben Ensall, and Jashaun Thomas taking on Canadian Cody Adair in the last fight before intermission.
Fight Night is scheduled for April 23 at Berkeley with the doors opening at 7pm and bouts slated to begin at 8pm.
Tickets are $65 for general admission and $100 VIP with open bar.
