Young seamer Kyle Hodsoll hopes to pick up where he left off in Argentina against Trinidad Under-23s this weekend.

Hodsoll claimed his first five-wicket haul with the final ball of the final game of the Baimax series in South America.

Now he hopes to continue that wicket-taking streak in the Caribbean and force his way into coach Gus Logie's plans for the World Cup qualifier in South Africa.

Hodsoll, 20, realizes he may not be at the front of the pecking order for the fast bowling slots in Bermuda's squad.

But he says he has been working hard in the gym trying to add a few yards of pace and give him the jump on some of his rivals.

"Everyone has still got to work for their spot. I don't think you could say anyone's place is secure.

"My goal right now is to try and make that final 15. There's quite a bit of competition between the seamers but that's good.

"That's what makes it even more of a challenge for me to prove myself to the coach and the selectors."

Hodsoll aims to use the Caribbean tour to iron out some kinks in his run-up.

Team physio Craig Brown has enlisted the help of a sprint coach to create a programme for the young seamer.

"I've been doing a lot of work on my run-up. My main focus right now is to get that smoothed out before the end of the tour.

"We haven't been able to get outside much but I've got a programme to work on (in the Caribbean) and hopefully that should help me get a little more control and add some pace."

St. George's pacer Hodsoll is not an out-an-out quick. He can open the bowling when required but is more of a first or second-change bowler, relying on movement off the seam.

His greatest moment for Bermuda, so far, came on last year's development tour of Argentina.

"My last game was my best game. I took the fifth wicket with the final ball of the tenth over. My boy Oronde (Bascome) took the catch. It was really exciting.

"Hopefully I will get a few more in Trinidad. I'm also looking to try and keep the run-rate down as much as possible.

"Right now I'm just giving my all in training and doing my best to make the squad."
