HSBC shocks Tuff Dogs
Joan Chang was 2-3 for the victors. A short-handed Dogs squad managed just 10 hits with Ryan Gaglio (3-4) leading the way. Andrew Simpson (2-4) and Bradley Barton were both 2-4.
BF&M 21, BEST 17
John Burcher powered BF&M to victory over BEST by blasting two homers and driving in eight runs. Burcher smacked a grand slam in the second inning and then added a two-run shot in the fourth. Team-mate Chris DeSousa was 2-3 and drove home four runs.
Jevaine Fubler (2-6) hit a grand slam for BEST. Jimmy Wong (3-6) and Nelson Arruda (2-4) were the other hitting stars for BEST.
BF&M 21, Montpelier Re 6
A ten-run sixth inning sealed an easy win for BF&M. Donny 'Captain Bermuda' Moniz and Chris DeSousa were both 4-5 with Moniz homering for BF&M. Team-mate John Burcher (2-3) also homered in the win while Eric Nordquist was 3-4. Joe Barroso (3-4) homered for Montpelier while Andrew Lemon was 2-4.
Castlewood 11, ACE 1
Darren Green (4-4) hit two homers as Castlewood had little difficulty in getting past bottom of the tables ACE. Green book ended his shots as they came in the first and seventh innings.
Junior Lapointe (2-3) and Greg Carey (2-3) also had fine turns at the plate for Castlewood. Mike Jardine (2-3) was the only ACE batter to get more than one hit. ACE scored their lone run on an RBI walk to Becci DeCouto (0-2).
SVOS 21, AF Smith 6
Carl Seymour, Marcus Flannery and Dan Kidd hit back-to-back-to back homers, but AF Smith couldn't muster much more offence as Sea Venture sank them.
Sea Venture scored five in the first and five in the second to make this game a laugher. Danny Cook (5-6) hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs for the victor. Terence Corday and Mark Herauf were both 4-5 with a homer for the victors.
Docksiders 8, BISYS 7
Trevor Ferguson capped an improbable comeback as Docksiders slipped past BISYS in the bottom of the seventh.
Docksiders trailed BISYS by three runs with two outs in the seventh, when Andrew Parsons, Darrin Cassidy and Ferguson all supplied clutch hits for the fight back win.
Panthers 19, Beach Boyz 3
The Panthers pounced on the Boyz with Garic Swainson leading the way by hammering out two homers. An eight-run fourth inning broke open a close game with Jermaine Jeffers providing a three-run shot for the Panthers. Dion Ball (HR, 3 RBI) and Mike Jardine were both 3-4 in the win. Les Dziwenka (2-2) and Shannon Gosse (2-3) had four of the Boyz seven hits.
Tuff Dogs 26, E&Y 9
The Dogs got nearly all the runs they needed in the first as they plated nine batters.
They would also score 11 in the sixth on their way to a 26 to 9 mercy victory. Ryan Outerbridge (4-5, HR, 6 RBI) was a star from the bottom of the order. Hywel Brown (3-3) and Ryan Gaglio (3-6, HR, 5 RBI) also had fine turns at the plate.
Kean Driscoll (2-4, 2 HRs) and Joe Barroso (3-4) were the top batters for E&Y.[[In-content Ad]]
