How low will the OBA stoop to make the PLP look bad?
FRIDAY, OCT. 19: Over the last year Bermuda has been seemingly invaded by the cast from the Harry Potter series of movies.
For a party that stated they will do politics differently, they are the masters of the understatement. The OBA has indeed done politics differently. Never before has our island been painted with a narrative of such doom and gloom.
Let’s do a quick check list of OBA lyrics:
1. Whites will leave if PLP win via Kevin Comeau;
2. No one will invest in Bermuda with PLP in charge;
3 PLP has led Bermuda into shootings.
The latest one is that the OBA took the time and effort to go and videotape an area where persons are supposedly living in tents. The clip, found on their FB page, depicts a situation of someone with severe mental challenges. I asked some of the OBA media team did they take the person home or for help after they videotaped them. The answer was a resounding ‘no’.
So let’s put it in perspective
The party chock full of business persons decided to videotape someone with mental challenges, but did not see fit to take them home. Putting Fellow Bermudians First?
But you know they would have a story if the Government did not have facilities to help those who want help.
Note that: 1. The BHC has housing at Gulfstream St. David’s for homeless persons;
2. MAWI provides professionals and accommodations for persons mentally challenged.
So if this person desired help, there are adequate avenues in place .The bigger picture here is; how low will the OBA stoop to paint their picture?
In the boom economic times many Bermudians were priced out of the rental market and were effectively homeless and stressed. Did the OBA then UBP, video tape these persons and call it a crisis?
In 1997 Sheelagh Cooper stated there were 2,000 children living in overcrowded and unsafe conditions. Since then the PLP has invested millions into housing fellow Bermudians;
• Harborview Village 52 families
• Perimeter Lane 42 families
• Butterfield Close 12 families
• Anchorage Close 16 families
• Loughlands 96 families
In total, over 200 families now have a place to call home. The OBA blames the PLP for spending too much money helping the needy Bermudians .That backfired on them. Now they wish to say the civil service is not helping Bermudians? More lies being exposed.
We have always had challenges. The civil service is dealing with them. The OBA is merely turning them into mini movies, that they use to play on people’s emotions, whilst refusing to help.
Putting Bermudians first?
