Hoteliers welcome return of Pink Beach

The Pink Beach Club is open again for business despite going into receivership last year.

The hotel and resort started accepting guests on May 2.

The Bermuda Sun last month revealed the resort was on the verge of being sold.

But last night it was unclear whether a US group which had been in advanced discussions to take over the $600-a-night cottage colony, had bought the Tucker’s Town hotel.

Managing director Mike Williams did not respond to the Sun’s calls and e-mails.

Economy

But fellow hoteliers have welcomed the resort’s re-opening.

David Dodwell, manager of The Reefs, said: “It is good news that the Pink Beach Club is open again.

“The more beds we have in Bermuda, the better that will be for the visitor as well as for the economy.

“The fact that the Pink Beach Club will be open for the summer is a good thing for everyone concerned.”

A writ was filed last July by the Bank of Butterfield to place the Pink Beach Club into receivership.

It is understood three potential buyers were sounded out before the deal to secure the resort’s long-term future was put in place.
