Led by captain Graham Cooke and his fellow flanker, Kevin Fraser, the Bermuda forwards repeatedly stopped the potential Cayman attack behind the gain line and worked for turn over ball. And when Cayman then tried to spin the ball to their backs, Bermuda's back line appeared impenetrable, with centres Micah Perozzi and Gates McGavick each putting in key tackles.
Half way through the first half, Perozzi broke through on a crash ball for a try between the posts which Daniel Nash duly converted.
Both sides repeatedly tested the other, but there were no further scores until late in the second half, when prop Joshua DeAllie had a storming run toward the Cayman line and, just as he was about to be brought down by the defenders, off-loaded a perfect pass to Tadhg O'Shaughnessy supporting on the outside who scored near the corner. The difficult conversion was slotted by Nash to make the score 14-0.
However, the game was far from over. Shortly after the restart, Cayman drove a maul over the Bermuda line to touch down in the corner. If the conversion was made, there would only be one try in it. As it was, the kick was on target but fell just short. With Cayman knowing that they needed two scores, they threw everything they had at Bermuda who valiantly defended for extended periods until the final whistle went giving Bermuda a well earned 14-5 victory.[[In-content Ad]]
