FRIDAY, APR. 29: The Committee for Migrant Workers will be hosting its first public forum on Tuesday at the Bermuda Industrial Union (BIU) headquarters.

The topic will be “Workers’ Rights in the Workplace”.

The goal of the forum is to inform both Bermudians and migrant workers of their employment rights according to the Employment Act 2000.

Leaders from various organisations will be on hand to answer questions, comment on trends and explain how the Employment Act 2000 provides basic rights to all workers.

Panelists include: lawyer Larry Scott as moderator; a representative from the BIU; a Labour Department representative; Catholic Bishop Robert Kurtz; Juliana Snelling, partner at Mello Jones and Martin; and the director of Amnesty International Bermuda, Robyn Skinner.

More information is available by contacting Louis Somner or George Scott at 292-0044.

The forum will take place from 5:30 to 7pm.
