Fitness programme could help you keep to your resolutions
Did you overindulge on festive treats such as Christmas pudding and Yule Log?
There are probably quite a few people around the island struggling to fit into their clothes having piled on the pounds over Christmas.
But The Athletic Club is coming to your rescue by launching its new weight loss programme.
‘I Lost It at the Club!’ provides eight weeks of guidance and motivation “to make your health and fitness goals a reality.”
It’s the second annual programme dedicated to helping the community achieve their New Year’s fitness goals.
The programme was developed by experts at the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA).
Kym Herron Scott, president and managing director of The Athletic Club, said it was “time for something fresh” in Bermuda. She said the weight-loss programme would not only help people keep their New Year’s resolutions, but also maintain a healthy and active lifestyle year-round.
Ms Herron Scott said: “The New Year is a time for a fresh start — for some club members, that means vamping up an existing fitness programme, and for others, it’s an opportunity to start taking control of their health for the first time. ‘I Lost It at the Club!’ is a fun and upbeat programme appropriate for people at all fitness levels to share their fitness experience with other club members. We would also like to openly welcome members of the community to come and participate in ‘I Lost It at the Club!’ to make their health goals a reality.
During the eight-week programme, people will participate in pre and post mini fitness assessments, private bi-weekly weigh-ins and beginner group exercise classes.
Full membership and services at the gym are included with the programme, which costs $59 for members and $375 for non-members.
‘I Lost It at the Club!’ will be launched on Monday, January 4 and run until March 4. There will be two complimentary 30-minute orientations — today at 11:30am and on Saturday at 9:30am.
The Athletic Club will also host its Fit To Be Tried open day on Saturday from 9am to 3pm. This will include free workouts, a showcase of sample classes, nutritional advice, information of wellness programmes, discounts on membership and prizes and giveaways.
The Athletic Club was established in 1984 and in 2008 Ms Herron Scott purchased its sister gym in Turks and Caicos.
