Fish fry up Porgies

A top of the tables clash between Flying Fish and Porgies was the highlight of the Fishbowl League matches. The Fish were one game ahead of the Porgies to start last Friday night at Warwick Lanes but ended the evening three points ahead.

Barracuda, thanks to a 4-0 thrashing of Hinds, moved into a tie for second with Porgies.

Sandra Ford rolled a 214 natural to go along with her 690 handicap series to best all women. Sheila Easton rolled a 201 while Joan Hollis (196), Deborah Botelho (195) and Patrice Tucker (194) all bettered 190.

Richard Zuill had the high game for the men with a 223, while Quinton Mallory (210), Alpheus Santucci (205) and Rusty Solis (203) also topped 200.

Mallory had the high handicap series with a 703. Santucci's 655 was good enough for second and Peter Winsby had a 650.

Barritt's League

PH Club almost clawed its way back into second place with a 28 to two triumph over Haascobe. They now trail Buy & Sell by 1.5 points.

Raymond Burchall and Robert Wilson both rolled 246s with Kevin Swan one pin back. Swan did have the high series with a 677. Wilson was second with a 660 while Maurice Caines rolled a 626.

East End League

The top teams all won by routs with no one able to pick up much ground in last week's bowling at Southside Family Bowl.

Deena Broadly hit 200 on the mark while John Simons (226), Douglas Evans (223), Rudy Dill (222) and Lew Furbert (203) all scored above that.

Simons and Douglas Evans both had a 569 series while Elvin Thomas (561) wasn't far behind. Sandra Ford was the top woman with a 511. Carolyn Amick (593) edged Broadley by two pins for second.

Scores: TLC 6, Habetes 3; Ten Pins 1, Spare Collectors 8; See-Breeze Strikers 1, Here We Come 8; Fireballs 9, Trailblazers 0; Up-N-Coming 1, Pin Snipers 8.

Armadillo Ladies Classic

Hot Tamales pulled off a minor upset when they edged the Pacesetters 10.5 to 9.5. The Tamales still trail Pacesetters by 13 points in the league standings in the race to get off the bottom of the table.

June Dill rolled a 257 game as the foundation for her 657 series. Lynn Showers had a 203 and 551 while Kathy Christopher (195) and Lanan Bascome (567) also rolled well.

Scores: Changes 15, Strike Zone 5; Hot Tamales 10.5, Pacesetters 9.5; Lucky Strikes 4, Classy Ladies 16; Fresh Blood 4, Upstarts 16. Standings: 1. Upstarts 228.5; 2. Classy Ladies 204.5; 3. Changes 181.5; 4. Strike Zone 177.5; 5. Fresh Blood 172; 6. Lucky Strikes 146; 7. Pacesetters 131.5; 8. Hot Tamales 118.5.

FM-Continental League

Spicenix cut into Pinjammers advantage with a 19 to 11 victory over the league leaders. Jammers are still 22 points ahead of Spicenix after the win.

Rochelle Harvey was close to perfection with a 267 and went on to roll a 642 series. Kenneisha Simmons (213 and 587) and Kathy Christopher (208 and 567) also bowled well.

In the something you don't see every day column, Jue Van Lowe, Richie Richardson and Wayne Kelly all bowled a 235 to have the men's high score.

Harold Minors bested the three of them for high series with a 615. Richardson had a 602 and Woddy Jones missed out on a 600 by one pin.
