WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 26: David Burch, Minister of National Security, visited the Fire Service’s newest recruits.
Minister Burch attended the Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service Recruit Training Course at the Hamilton Fire Station earlier today where 14 young men are in week three of the 26-week course.
The Minister said: “It was inspiring to spend a short time with these young men who are joining a Service that has a proud history and commitment to safety and rescue in Bermuda.”
During the brief discussion, some of the men indicated the Fire Service is a second career choice for them.
Ranging in age from 19 to 40 years, the recruits hail from backgrounds as varied as marketing, construction and plumbing.
The Minister said: “These men are excellent examples of the power of positive life choices.
“The course is intense and is designed to produce a professional fire services officer trained in a variety of disciplines.
“On behalf of the Government I went to encourage them and support them as they embark on a career of uniformed service to Bermuda.”
