Cycling
Mark Hatherley was selected as the Male Rider of the year at the Bermuda Bicycle Association’s Annual Awards Dinner held last Saturday at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club. Karen Bordage won for Female Rider of the Year while Dominque Mayho was no surprise as the Junior Rider of the year, an award also won by Chequan Richardson. The Rider of the Year Award went to Ian Port while John Whale won for Club Member of the Year. A total of $2,200 was raised for junior cycling.
Philippe Mauduit of Team Saxo Bank was the guest speaker.
Softball
The Commercial Softball League season started on Monday with defending champs Docksiders Tuff Dogs beating the Outback 23 to 8. YouKnowDat beat a rebuilding Rosa’s Banditos 23 9. Rosa’s were also mercied by Bermuda Pest Control 18 to 3 on Wednesday.
In Tuesday’s action Paraquet Flyers drubbed Scared Hitless 24 to 3 while Flanagan’s G-Shocks had little difficult in getting past Atlantic Stitches Skylights 25 to 6. KPMG picked up a default win over St George’s Pony’s on Wednesday when they could only field eight players.
Tonight’s games see Precision Cabling Panthers have their first game of the season as they take on undefeated Bermuda Pest Control at 6pm while the Skylights will take on the Wett & Wild Zebras at 7:30pm. All games are at Michael Preece Stadium.
Correction
A photo caption in Wednesday’s Bermuda Sun should have stated Brendan Minors scored the winning goal in Dandy Town’s 3-2 victory over PHC on Sunday.
