FRIDAY, APRIL 13: A group of farmers picked up 10 truck-loads of trash in a bid to clean up South Shore.
The team walked from Elbow Beach to Barnes corner loading everything from abandoned bikes to scuba tanks on the back of a truck.
Farmers from J&J Produce, Amaral & Sons, Bermuda Gardens, Pacheco & Sons and Wadson’s Farm took part in the huge cleanup last Wednesday.
Patti Hill from J&J Produce said: “The farmers are all on the roads daily and they felt the amount of trash and debris on the road was huge.
“So we decided to do something about it. Visitor Maggie Wroe from Maryland joined the farmers during the clean-up and we collected over 10 truck loads of trash. We picked up two bikes, mattresses, computers, batteries, scuba tanks and lots of beer bottles.”
