FRIDAY, APRIL 27: Esteemed Bermudian actor Earl Cameron is to take part in a play reading this evening from 7:30pm at the Bermuda Musical Dramatic Society’s Daylesford Theatre.

The actor will read Deep Are The Roots by Arnaud D’Usseau and James Gow along with local actors.

Deep Are The Roots was first produced at Wyndhams Theatre in London in 1946. The play is dear to Earl’s heart, for it not only gave him his first break in the West End as Britain’s first black actor, but he also met his first wife when he travelled on tour with the production.

Earl Cameron was born in Pembroke in 1917 and is still working in film. Most recently, he has appeared alongside Nicole Kidman in The Interpreter in 2005 , also in a cameo role as the royal portrait painter in The Queen with Helen Mirren . He also appeared with Leonardo DiCaprio in Inception.
