Donald Dane and Lauren Joell shine in Wednesday Mixed League


Wednesday Night Mixed League

Lucky Strike extended their lead with a 4-0 victory over the Bye team. The four other games were 3-1 outcomes with Forty Plus downing Newer Breed; We've Decided beating Ink Spots; Time Will Tell winning against Strike Force; and Dark & Lovely beating Free Spirits.

Donald Dane had the high handicap game with a 256, but it was Lauren Joell who parlayed his 243 into the series high score with a 665. Other men rolling well were Erskine Brangman (233), Jaimie Ramsay (659) and Kelly Zuill (644).

Alice Lightbourne used her 238 handicap game as the building block for her series high 667. Melanie Burrows had the game high with a 248. She also had a 644 series. Yvette Smith had a 242 game and 647 series.

Fishbowl League

Hammerheads took four from Piranhas while Mackerel did likewise to Dolphins. The other 4-0 match was a victory by Porgies over Goldfish. Marlins ran out 3-1 winners over Tuna while Flying Fish beat Hinds by the same score.

Wahoo downed Cow Pollies 3-1 and Snappers and Barracuda split the points.

Top scores were recorded by Peggy Mello (200 scratch), Yvonne Joseph (628 handicap), Richard Zuill (237 scratch and 640 handicap).

Barritt's League

PHC beat Southside One to help edge closer to league leaders Pembroke Jrs. Pembroke beat Young Bloods 24.5 to 5.5 while PHC downed Southside 27 to 3.

Other scores saw Logic Rollers slip past Southside Two 16 to 14; Stash T just get the better of The Old & the New 16.5 to 13.5; and Sparks burn Buy & Sell 22 to 8.

Levince Samuels led all bowlers with a 239. Just missing the top mark were Maurice Caines (234) and Oliver Franks (233).

East End Winter League

Pin Snipers are building up an insurmountable lead after white-washing Fireballs 9-0. Spare Collectors won a top of the table clash against third place Habetes 7-2.

Bottom club See-Breeze Strikers upset Here We Come 8-1. Other scores saw Ten Pins double up Trailblazers 6-3 and TLC hammer Up-N-Coming 8-1.

Gerard Regis rolled a 200 game on his way to a 568 series. Charles Swainson had the top game with a 223, which he rolled into a 566 series. Nathaniel Ray (203), Tim Lodge (202) and Douglas Evans (201) also had good games while Troy Pitcher had a 546 series.

Carolyn Welch was top woman with a 202 game and 539 series. Maryell Jackson took runner-up honours with a 193 and 515. Sandra Brangman had a 185 and 503 for third high honours in each category.

Continental Bowling League

Nifty Rollers gave Pinjammers a good run for their money, but came up just short in a 16 to 14 loss.

Quickie Lickie Laundry beat Cubs 19.5 to 10.5 while Spicenix demolished Bermuda Pest Control 27 to 3.

Other scores saw a pair of 23 to 7 wins as Pinsplitters beat Odd Balls and The Invaders took down New Hope.

June Pitt had a 217 game and 557 to lead the women. Pat Price (206) also topped 200. Michelle Simmons (193) and Kathy Christopher (522) also bowled well.

Harold Minors had a 220 game on his way to a 619 series. Philip Francis (222, 596) and Bruce Benevides (213, 602) were the other top men.

Commercial Bowling League

It was a week of blanks as four teams failed to claim a point in this week's action at Warwick Lanes. Strikers, beat Double Trouble 4-0 while King Pins did likewise to Sunset. Royal Gazette blanked BTC as did Do It Best to Braves. Sweet Life 'only' took three form Spinners in the league's other match.

Chris Smith and Chris Leverock both rolled 236 games while Maurice Lowe (204) also topped 200. Terrylyn Jones was the top woman with a 190. Sharon Gibson (182) and Earleen DeSilva (177) were second and third.

Gibson had the high handicap series with a 632, edging out Yvette Smith (625) and Marsha Burrows (622).

The top men were Smith (577), Leverock (570) and Lowe (547).
