TUESDAY, JULY 19: A resort owned by hotelier David Dodwell has been named best in the region for the second year in a row.
Mr Dodwell’s Nisbet Plantation Beach Club in St Kitts and Nevis came top in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Bahamas – and came fifteenth in the world in the prestige Travel + Leisure magazine’s top 50 Hotels in the World list.
Mr Dodwell also owns The Reefs in Bermuda, which notched up a spot in the top 25 hotels in the Caribbean, Bermuda and Bahamas – the fourteenth consecutive year it’s made the list.
Mr Dodwell said: “These awards truly honour the leadership and staff members at both Nisbet Plantation and The Reefs.
“I am extremely proud of their efforts and commitment to delivering exceptional service to our guests and a memorable vacation.”
Nisbet Plantation also came fifth on the list in the family hotels category for the region.
Jamie Holmes, general manager of Nisbet Plantation, said: “To say that we’re ecstatic with being named the top Caribbean resort for a second year in a row is an understatement.
“This is a tremendous honour given to us from Travel + Leisure readers and our guests who fall in love with our intimate hotel, our friendly staff and unspoiled island – and then tell their friends about it.”
The survey asked readers of the title to rate their favourite hotels, cities, islands cruise lines and airlines, as well as other holiday-related services.
Hotels are rated based on rooms, facilities, location, service restaurants, food and value.
Mr Dodwell - who was named Hotelier of the Year by theCaribbean Hotels and Tourism Association last year - and Mr Holmes received the coveted award at a glittering ceremony in Los Angeles last week.
