D&J Construction builds solid innings for win over Bermuda Blue

D&J Construction opened the playoffs with a mild upset, scoring six times in the first inning en route to a 12-9 win over Bermuda Blueprinting.

Devin Millett (3/4) drove in four runs to lead D&J, and Ben Haplin (3 RBI) added a two-run homerun in the sixth inning to give D&J some breathing room. Keith Bridges drove in three runs in the loss.

A Division

Tuff Dogs scored seven runs in the seventh inning to tie the game against Snowballs, then overcame a base-running blunder in the extra frame to bring home the game-winning run.

Hywel Brown (5 RBI) collected four hits for Tuff Dogs, including the game-ending single. Andrew Simpson (5/5) added a two-run homerun.

Braxton Stowe homered and drove in four runs for Snowballs, who failed to hold on to the large lead despite scoring three insurance runs in the top of the seventh inning.

Sea Venture crushed White Mountains Re by 21-6, scoring five runs in the sixth inning to reach the mercy limit.

Deon Bell (3/5) homered and drove in five, while John Ray (3/3) added a three-run shot.

Art Palmer hit a two-run homerun for White Mountains.

B Division

Renegades scored six runs over the final two innings to make the difference in their victory, as they outlasted Endurance by 18-13.

Kijuan Franks slammed a three-run homerun, and Dwayne Basden (3/5) knocked in five for the Renegades.

April Andruziak drove in a pair of runs for Endurance.

TBI Highspeeders hammered BNY by 12-3, scoring four in the opening frame and never looked back.

Andrew McDowall (3/4) put on a hitting clinic, slugging three homeruns to drive in eight.

Chris Dizinno (3/3) had the lone run batted in for BNY, who also added two on throwing errors.

Ernst & Young defaulted the first game of their series against Killer Goldfish for insufficient players.

Men’s Division

In Men’s League action, E&Y opened the series against Tuff Dogs with a win, plating six runs in the seventh inning to secure the game.

Steve Halischuk (3/5) and Joe Barroso (3/4) homered and drove in three runs, while Nikola Alaica (2 RBI) added four hits.

Ryan Gaglio (3/5, 4 RBI) hit a pair of homeruns in the loss.

Tuff Dogs turned in the defensive play of the game in the second inning, when a seemingly routine line drive to shortstop was scooped off the bounce and thrown around the horn for a triple play.
