'Dion was just letting off steam'
Cricket coach David Moore said Dion Stovell is still a part of the national team set up.
The team is in training for the upcoming ICC Americas Twenty/20 Tournament in Florida.
The Southampton Rangers skipper quit Saturday’s national team practice match at the National Sports Centre following an alleged heated on-field verbal spat with a teammate.
Coach Moore said: “There was a misunderstanding between two players. There was a little bit of steam let off and that was about it.
“From my point of view there wasn’t too much to worry about.
No disrespect
“Of course, other people may see that through different eyes. I can only speak for me as there were other people like board members, who might see it in a different light, but in a coach’s perspective, he didn’t disrespect myself.”
Coach Moore said sometimes passions get the best of players who want everyone to give 100 per cent all the time or get disappointed in how they perform.
“Words are exchanged on the best of teams.”
Stovell declined to comment on the incident.
The aggressive opening batsman and off-break spinner is considered as an integral part of Bermuda’s plans for the upcoming regional Twenty/20 World Cup qualifier.
Earlier this year he shone brightly with the bat during Bermuda’s disappointing World Cricket League Division Two Tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
He also helped club side Rangers regain the BELCO Cup after dethroning cup holders PHC in the final at Lords.
