DeCouto picked up consecutive wins on Sunday to clinch the title having gone into the final day with a slim three-point advantage over firefighter Caisey.
The Cycle Care boss said experience and practice had been the key to his victory in the Superbike series - now considered the elite local race series.
"It came right down to the wire with Shannon but I was able to get two victories on Sunday.
"It was nerve-wracking for both of us because the points were so close but I did what I had to do.
"I think overall the experience I've had overseas and the practice I put in on non-race days were crucial. Seat time is everything."
DeCouto said he liked to get out in front early, get in his groove and win the race from the head of the field.
But the veteran rider, who will become a father next year, is not sure whether he will have time to defend his title.
"I'm going to be a lot busier that's for sure but I'll try and race as much as I can."
Meanwhile rising young star Andrew DaCosta, who was last week selected as a reserve for the prestigious US based Red Bull Rookies Cup series, claimed the GP 125 crown.
DaCosta, 15, was off the pace on Sunday with Zain Philpott and Devon Bailey dominating. But he already had the title in the bag after an outstanding season and was able to take it easy down the final straight.
Cyril Whitter, spokesman for the Bermuda Motorcycle Racing Club, said it had been an exciting season.
"We have seen a huge improvement, particularly with the youth. The level has increased by 200-300 per cent in the GP 80 and GP 125 class.
"The 600 cc class has become the premier series for the senior riders and a lot of the youth have stepped up to the GP 125s which gives them the opportunity to compete overseas."
