Hemp needs to come to the top of the order. He’s the guy that can get things he done as he proved during the ICC in South Africa. We struggled at the top of the order and never got off to a good start, which put pressure on the middle order.
They did rise to the occasion on the smaller field, but when it came to the better teams with the better bowling on the bigger fields, they failed.
We definitely need to work on running between the wickets way better. We’re looking to hit boundaries when we should be looking to build innings as the U.S. and Canada showed how easy it is to work the ball around. Every batsman who doesn’t know how to sweep shouldn’t be playing at this level. Our skill level needs to be picked up.
If Janeiro Tucker hadn’t come in for the injured Chris Douglas, I think we could have been fully exposed. It could have been worse with either Argentina or Cayman beating us and outclassed by the U.S. and Canada by a long way.
Chris Foggo
Chris Foggo brings a whole different energy level. He’s arrogant in his little way. He doesn’t feel threatened by any bowler no matter how strong the opposition is. He has an aura about him, which is what you need to play at this level. He plays to his strengths, which show you how simple it is.
Talent
A lot of players can train as hard as they want, be committed and be disciplined, but they are not good enough for this level. Most of our players that aren’t disciplined, aren’t a part of the national set up.
They show a lack of commitment or they don’t want to play for the board. All be it, we don’t have the team at this time to challenge Canada or the U.S.  It’s a good tournament for David Moore to see where we are at and to assess where we need to go.
We’ll probably do better in the 20-20. I’m looking for bigger and better things from Bermuda in it.
I wish we could bring in five or six new players for the shorter version of the game. There are several guys who are on the national team who aren’t good 20-20 players.
Malachi Jones
Malachi made his own decision. He knew what would happen if he played. He’s man enough and has to deal with the consequences. Players were told they cannot play and he went against it. He chose his own destiny. He cannot blame anyone else. Management could have told him no, but he’s a man — he’s not a little boy anymore. n
