Cricket team named for trip to Canada

MONDAY, AUG. 8: Antonio Darrell has been appointed captain of the Bermuda U-15 cricket team that will play in Winnipeg, Canada at the end of the month in the ICC U-15 Americas Northern Division.

Bermuda will compete in 40-overs matches against Canada and the US in a double round robin tournament.

National coach David Moore said: "I would like to congratulate all the players selected for this tour.

“This is not just in recognition of their playing skills, but their commitment to training, their hard work and desire to play cricket for Bermuda.

“I encourage those that weren't selected to continue to practice hard, attend training and maintain your desire to represent Bermuda."

Grant Smith will coach the team along with assistant coach Lorenzo ‘LT’ Tucker and manager Lloyd Smith.

Cameron Gordon, and
Micah Perozzi.

The Bank of Bermuda Foundation has provided funding for this tournament for the island’s under-15s.

David Lang, managing director of the Bank of Bermuda Foundation, said: "We are very pleased to continue to support these young men in their pursuit of the Sir Henry Tucker Trophy. The squad is in a very competitive division that will provide outstanding cricket at an international level that will be a stern test for the team.

“We are pleased to note that the squad continues to represent Bermuda in a very professional and courteous manner and are always great ambassadors for our country. We wish them the best of luck in the tournament."

The team is scheduled to have a game tonight at 5pm at St David’s and then practices at 5:30pm on Wednesday at St John’s Field and Thursday at the National Sports Centre.

They will have a pre-tour training camp from August 15 to 17 at the National Sports Centre from 10am to 3pm daily.[[In-content Ad]]
