She took the oath to be a “true and faithful” leader during a ceremony at Government House this morning.
During the swearing in ceremony, Governor Sir Richard Gozney revealed that Ms Cox would retain the Finance Ministry in her new capacity as Premier.
She will announce her new Cabinet on Monday morning. She told the assembled MPs, civil servants and dignitaries it would be a “fierce and fearless” team who will serve the people of Bermuda.
She said: “We are public servants and must give value for money.”
Ms Cox used the swearing in ceremony to outline plans to tackle the country’s debt.
She said that she hopes to make savings of $150 million in her first year in office.
She added: “International standard setting agencies continue to give this Government high ratings for its low debt.”
“I have not shirked the difficult issues and I have not been afraid to take the difficult decisions.
“Over the last three months I am surprised I still have a voice and legs.
“I have been up and down this country talking to constituents and delegates.
“I feel privileged to serve the people of Bermuda.”
