WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17: The Eastern Counties need St David’s to be a part of it just as the Western Counties need Southampton Rangers.

We’ve had a good year of cricket with Bermuda qualifying for the World Twenty/20 and having such a great Cup Match.

We could have had two great teams in Willow Cuts and Rangers play in the Western Counties and we could have had St David’s and Bailey’s Bay play in the Eastern Counties.

It could have been a great year by finishing off with these great matches, but we don’t because not everyone sees eye to eye.

But the fans want cricket right now — they are hungry for the type of cricket we saw at Cup Match.

I personally know how much everyone appreciated having good cricket at Cup Match as even Somerset fans have given me gifts — they wish their team would have won but they were happy for cricket.

Not to take away anything from Glenn Blakeney, he is a class player, and not to take anything away from Bailey’s Bay because they can only play the opposition put in front of them.

Bay dealt with them accordingly. Flatt’s should not have put them in to bat.

They won the toss and elected not to bat.

Plus they should have had Glenn out for a duck, but they dropped him.

But you can’t take away from the brilliance of Glenn. He’s definitely a great player, one that still should be playing for Bermuda and playing Cup Match.

They deserve the records that they set, but they would never score 400 runs against St David’s, as our league standing shows, we’re the best team on the island by far right now.

Over in the Western Counties, Willow Cuts have picked up a lot of players and they are one of the forces in cricket. Rangers are obviously one of the top teams and everyone looks forward when the best play each other.

These are the headline matches for the Counties.

The Counties need Rangers and St David’s and there needs to be some sort of resolution to these problems.

Our youngsters need this opportunity too.

Finally, I personally want to say thank you to everyone who has shown me appreciation for Cup Match.

Everyone has been giving me gifts and they are all appreciated no matter how big or small.

It’s been worthwhile to know everyone has been entertained. I want to say a special thank you to the airport for a luncheon they held — they were really overly generous.
