Corporation to meet with Government to crack down on city beggars
WEDNESDAY, JULY 6: A ‘get tough’ policy on aggressive beggars is needed, councillors said on Wednesday.
Corporation of Hamilton mayor Charles Gosling and council officials are to meet Government ministers in a bid to crack down on problem vagrants on city streets.
Mr Gosling said: “One of our famous individuals, who is constantly being reported in the papers, last time he was in front of a magistrate the case was dismissed.
“It was not thought to be a criminal matter, more of a social problem. I understand the police might be reluctant to pursue these things if that’s how it’s going to be handled in the courts.”[[In-content Ad]]The Bermuda Sun bids farewell...
