Cann: I don't see anyway we can lose

The only two possible results are a St. George’s win or if we get into trouble a draw

Looking at the two squads for Cup Match, I don't see any way we can lose.

There's only two possible results - a St. George's win or, if we get into trouble, a draw.

I don't think they have what it takes to bowl us out twice. They have some good players but I can see them folding with the bat once Janeiro (Tucker) gets out.

As always, he is the key wicket on the Somerset side. I don't see anyone else that can do the kind of damage he can.

Looking through the Somerset squad they have gone for a lot of bits and pieces players - a lot of all-rounders.

I prefer specialists for the big occasion. We have a balanced team - six specialist bats, a wicket-keeper batsman, two quality spinners and two quality seamers. Oronde Bascome has been bowling well all season and he can be our third seamer.

Pressure

Cup Match is a pressure situation and you want people who have been there and done it. I want players like Charlie Marshall, Glenn Blakeney and Chris Foggo that know have been there and done it and know what to do in any situation.

I want my bowlers to be able to bowl long spells. Part-time bowlers tend to spray it all over the place when they are under pressure and you can't have that in Cup Match.

We'll check-in at the Hamilton Princess later this afternoon, have our team meal and go over some final tactics.

We played on the wicket on Saturday and trained on it yesterday so we know what to expect.

There's a lot of bounce and there's a good bit in it for the bowlers. As a batsman you have to bide your time and cash in on the bad balls.

I made a century on this wicket on Saturday and I'm coming into form at the right time but I'm not setting any personal targets or anything like that. I have to do whatever the situation requires.

With the strength we have in our batting line up my role is more likely to be to come in and score some quick runs and bat for a declaration, but if I have to dig us out of trouble I'll do that. We have to wait and see what the game situation demands.

I was surprised with some of the Somerset selections. Over the years Hasan Durham has caused us a lot of trouble and I thought he would have been in the team.

I understand them going with youth but I thought they would have picked the boy Maybury.

He swings the ball both ways and he ran through their top order in the trial game.

That's not the team I would have picked but I guess they see things differently.

I'm feeling really confidant right now. I know what I have in my team, I know my game plan and I know all my players can handle the pressure.
