Can the celebs beat the kids?

FRIDAY, JUNE 29: The annual Hiscox 11 & Under Celebrity Cricket Festival is scheduled for Saturday, July 7 at the National Sports Centre’s Northern Field.

The day starts at 9:30am with the East and West 11 & Under All-star teams battling each other.

At 1pm the Celebrity team will take to the field to steel themselves against the 11 & Under national team.

Sports Minister Glenn Blakeney will once again be on the team. Fellow MPs Michael Scott, Kim Wilson, Michael Weeks, and Marc Bean will join him on the team.

Michael Jackman, Dwayne ‘Sluggo’ Leverock, Power Girl, Nikita Robinson, Nadanja Bailey, Christopher and Ashley Estwanik, Jay Donowa, Justin Donowa, and Lionel Cann will be some of the rest of the squad.

There will be free children’s entertainment during the day including face painting, bouncy castle and slide. Lunch and a free t-shirt will be provided for the first 200 to attend.

There will be a raffle and all proceeds will go to the Bermuda Cricket Board’s Pee Wee Cricket Programme.

Minister Blakeney said: “I fully support community based youth cricket as a wonderful opportunity to enable talented players of the game to be nurtured at an early stage of their development and harness excellence in sports. I also wish to commend our community partners – Hiscox Insurance Company in supporting the growth of cricket in Bermuda.”

Charles Dupplin, CEO of Hiscox Bermuda said: “The score is 2-1 to the U11s in the years to date and I know both sides will be very much looking forward to this next match which I hope will again prove a very popular family day out.”

Lloyd Fray, president of the BCB, said: “The BCB is excited to partner once again to provide a fun family day of cricket for the community and to raise money for the BCB’s free Pee Wee Cricket Programme.

“The Pee Wee Cricket programme is the foundation of our Youth Development Programme, which introduces the game of cricket in a fun, structured and safe environment. I would like to encourage the community to come out and support our future cricketers compete against an exciting line up of celebrities for a great family day out of fun.”[[In-content Ad]]
