Caisey is leader of the pack in championship race
Smith has been one of the revelations of the GP 125 season and picked up another podium finish at the weekend to add to several victories earlier in the year.
But it is Caisey, who missed out on the title last season to Cyril Whitter on the final race day, who is leading the pack - determined to win back his title.
Caisey said the way he lost the championship last season, amid a mild controversy over points he claims he should have been awarded for attending a meeting, was helping to spur him on.
"I really want to win it outright this year so there are no doubts.
"That episode is in the back of my mind but I'm not making it my main focus. I just want to win the title."
Whitter has been taken out of the championship equation for the time being after breaking his thumb.
But that hasn't made life any easier for Caisey, with the biggest competition coming from his team-mate, Josonne Smith.
"Last year he was just getting his feet wet. This is his first full season and he's really come along and proved himself.
"I wasn't expecting this strong a challenge from him. Not yet anyway.
"He's got a good machine, he's fit, he's hungry and he's an excellent rider. I can't take him for granted. We're having a real good battle this season."
Caisey said that the competitiveness in the GP 125 class had stepped up a gear this season with 13-year-old prodigy Toriano Wilson riding like a demon and Jonathan Tumbridge coming back out to shake things up with a couple of victories.
"I would say it's one of the most competitive classes right now," said Caisey.
Depite his determination to take the GP125 crown, Caisey believes the 600cc Superbike class is on the verge of taking over as Bermuda's premier motorcycling championship.
"It's already very competitive. We've had several different winners this year. Stephen Paynter won his first race, David Jones came back out and won the other day and Paul DeCouto has had a great season.
"I think that could end up being the premier class. The crowd really gets excited when they see those guys hitting 100mph."
DeCouto is the current leader in the Superbikes followed by Paynter and Antoine Richards. Caisey, Smith and Tumbridge occupy the podium spots in the GP 125s.
Ed and John Cook are 1-2 in the scooter class with Richardo Wade in third while Billy Dunn leads the formula class from Shawn DeRosa and Chris Alves.
Shae Darrell is on top in the minibike open class with Caisey's son Jazari leading the mini-bike juniors.
Defending champ Bruce DeGrilla continues to impress in the GP 70 class and leads the way again while John Cook is on top in the GP80s.
Next race day at Southside is July 29.[[In-content Ad]]
