Premier Dr. Ewart Brown will step down as MP for Warwick South Central, it was announced yesterday.
The Progressive Labour Party released a statement inviting anyone interested in running for Dr. Brown’s seat to submit an application.Dr. Brown has always maintained that he will be end his tenure as Premier in October this year.
Now it has been confirmed that he will also be giving up his Warwick South Central seat.
A by-election is expected to take place in Dr. Brown’s constituency later this year.
The PLP statement also stated the party was looking for members to fight for the St. George’s West and St. George’s South seats.
It said: “As a by-election is anticipated in Constituency 26 later this year, the Progressive Labour Party is inviting its members who are interested in representing the Party in Constituencies 2, 4, and 26 to submit applications to the Party on or before August 13th at 5 p.m.
“Potential candidates and members of the affected branches are encouraged to ensure their membership is up-to-date.”
