Burt confirmed as PLP candidate

David Burt to represent Team PLP in Pembroke West Central

This afternoon, at Alaska Hall, the Progressive Labour Party announced Senator E. David Burt as the general election candidate for Constituency 18, Pembroke West Central.

David Burt graduated from Florida Air Academy in Melbourne, Florida in 1996. He went on to attend The George Washington University in Washington, DC, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Finance and Information Systems in 2001. He was awarded The George Washington University Presidential Administrative Fellowship and received his Master of Science in Information Systems Development in 2003.

David has always had a passion for public service and returned to Bermuda with a desire to positively impact his island home. Since joining the Progressive Labour Party, David has held various positions within the party, including Party Chairman from 2006 – 2009. Other organizations where David has served include the Tourism Board, National Training Board, and as a Director of the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce. He is currently a Director of the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation and is also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Young Men’s Social Club, and the Devonshire Recreation Club.

In 2004, David started GMD Consulting Limited, an IT and small business consulting firm focusing on project management. In 2009 he was certified as a Project Management Professional. He served as President of GMD Consulting from its founding in 2004 until his appointment to the Senate.

David was appointed Senator and Junior Minister for Finance and Environment Planning and Infrastructure Strategy on November 1, 2010. In addition to his responsibilities in the Senate, he serves as Chief of Staff to Premier the Hon. Paula Cox. A lifelong resident of Pembroke, David is honoured to have the opportunity to put his passion to work on behalf of the people of Bermuda as the candidate for Pembroke West Central.

David is the proud son of Gerald and Merlin Burt and he is engaged to be married to Kristin Chambliss.
