Boxers win three fights in London
The island team went down 5-3 to a select squad from the Police and Community Boxing Associations of Great Britain.
The event was a good experience for the Bermuda boxers who were matched against fighters of similar experience and ability.
The British team will travel to Bermuda for a re-match at the Police Black-Tie Boxing night in October.
Inspector Craig Morfitt, president of the Police Boxing Association, talked us through last weekend's bouts.
Tony Suhartono (BDA) lost to Daniel Herman by TKO
Suhartono looked pretty sharp considering this was his first bout. He did well in the first round but by the second he was on the back foot. He got hit by a couple of punishing jabs and took the standing eight count before the bell.
He took another standing count in the third before the ref stopped the fight.
Lee Maximchuck (BDA) lost to Ben Zarakami by TKO
Maximchuck was a little ring-rusty. This was his first bout in eight years and he was matched with a very good opponent.
He was hit with some sharp upper-cuts and took a standing eight count in the first. He took some more punishment in the second before the ref stopped the fight baffling most of those watching, who believed he could have continued.
Melvin Martin (BDA) lost to George Terry by TKO
Martin, a last-minute call-up to the team, was a little underprepared for this fight.
But despite that he started very well.
IN the second round, however, he wilted and took some blows. He simply had no energy left and the ref stopped the contest.
The short notice had left him short on cardio training.
Josh Smith (BDA) beat Giles Walker on a unanimous points decision
Bermuda's top heavyweight chalked up the first win of the night taking the fight to his opponent.
He pursued him across the ring consistently for three rounds, landing some good body shots and won convincingly on points.
Lloyd Peterkin (BDA) beat P. Maynard by TKO
Fighting for only the second time in his life Peterkin put in an impressive display, taking control from the bell. A knock down early in round two was followed up with a barrage of punches which left his opponent facing a standing eight count. At that point the ref decided Maynard had had enough and stopped the fight.
Asaph Rawlins (BDA) lost to Moss Ali-Turk by unanimous points decision
Rawlins came into this fight with a 3-0 record but he was matched against a much bigger opponent.
Rawlins tried to get inside him and land some blows but it was Turk who was landing with his jabs. Rawlins did well but Turk had more experience and out-pointed him convincingly.[[In-content Ad]]
