Hurricane Igor can have a huge impact on who makes it to the Twenty20 semi-finals.

We are scheduled to play Bailey’s Bay on Saturday and it is a must win situation for them. We are already though the semi-finals, but Bailey’s Bay needs the match to be played.

I think they are one of the better teams and deserve a chance to earn a spot as one of the final four teams. I watched them play last week and it would be unfortunate if they get knocked out this way.

That would pave the way for Willow Cuts to come second.

Common sense prevails here — we all want to play, but the weather may not permit it. Even if the hurricane doesn’t come, it will still bring wind and rain and make it impossible to play. Cricket can’t be played in the rain.

No matter what happens it looks like the weather won’t be conducive for us to play any sort of cricket barring a miracle.

This is a big disappointment. It’s always come down to the last week to decide who gets in to the semi-finals. It’s even a bigger disappointment for the teams that have to win this weekend.

For us that are already in, we can look at the positives and get a little rest and ready for the semi-finals next weekend.

It was a very good decision by the cricket board to allow the national team to return early from Canada. Families are more important than the sport.

This is a good call.

In the past cricket has been more important than the family so it’s definitely nice to see the cricket board think about the players’ families when making this decision.

Home is the place where they should be when a hurricane is taking place.

Not expected

This wasn’t the tour they were hoping for. The last two matches were called off because of the hurricane, but even before that the boys probably were hoping for closer games.

We have to take into account they were playing against some really, really strong opposition in the West Indies High Performance Centre under trying conditions.

The wickets were terrible.

Hopefully Cricket Canada look back at this and accept responsibility. The wicket wasn’t conducive for international level cricket.

Our wickets here aren’t the sharpest either, but these were worse.

There was only one half century scored and that was by Hemp. The rest of the high scores were in the 20s and that’s not much to write home about.

However, they’ve gained experience from this tour and we knew going in one of the primary focuses was for them to gain exposure.

They still would have liked to have gotten some results but as they come back, hopefully, they’ll tweak their techniques from what they’ve learned.

If they don’t, then it’s another case of us being dominated by higher class opposition.
