Berry, Simons and Abend move up the ranks at XL

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 22: XL Group plc’s reinsurance operations announced the appointment of three Bermudians.

Mark Berry was named senior vice president and managing director, International Property & Specialty and Paul Simons to senior vice president, head of US Property Treaty.

Together Mr Berry and Mr Simons have some 50 years of industry experience, including close to 40 years with XL.

XL also announced that Tristan Abend has joined its Bermuda reinsurance operations as vice president, International Property Treaty Underwriter.

Mr Abend, who reports to Mr Berry, was formerly a senior underwriter with Flagstone Reinsurance Ltd., where he held various underwriting positions from 2005.

President and chief underwriting officer of XL Re Ltd, Charles Cooper said: “These appointments clearly demonstrate XL’s ability to retain and attract some of the best talent in the industry.
