Bermuda v Kenya: Over-by-over

Kenya win by seven wickets with five overs in hand

Tikolo strikes the winning runs with another boundary through the leg side.

A comfortable chase in the end for Kenya and Hemp's century was in vain.

44 overs: Kenya 253 for 3 . Target 260

Tikolo 58, Obuya 38

Tikolo brings up his fifty with a back-foot drive for four.

It's come from 67 deliveries with just two fours - a lesson in how to score quickly without taking any unnecessary risk.

He takes four more with a flashing cut through the off-side. those two boundaries tripled the amount of fours he had scored in the rest of his innings.

Obuya takes the score past 250 and Kenya within 7 runs of the win. Bad day for Jacobi Robinson who has gone for eight an over,

43 overs: Kenya 238 for 3 . Target 260

Four singles fro the over. 22 needed off seven.

42 overs: Kenya 234 for 3 . Target 260

Tikolo 46, Obuya 32

26 to win from the last 8. it's almost over now.

Kenya have cruised it in the end and Bemuda's improved batting performance will be in vain.

41 overs: Kenya 229 for 3 . Target 260

Nothing flashy from Tikolo. he's worked the strike, took his singles and is on the verge of a fifty. text book 'closing'.

40 overs: Kenya 223 for 3 . Target 260

Collins Obuya, picking up where his namesake Kennedy Obuya left off, is looking cool and collected on 24 from 28. That's the 50 partnership from 55 balls.

Leverock finishes his spell with figures of 0 for 42 from ten overs. Decent performance in the context of this game. He never goes for many.

It won't be enough though. the required rate for Kenya is 3.7 an over for the last ten.

39 overs: Kenya 217 for 3 . Target 260

Elsewhere Holland has beaten Afghanistan and are through to the Super 8s. The UAE are on the verge of victory against Denmark so they should be through too.

Kenya will be through if they finish the job here then its between us (1-3) and Afghanistan (2-2) for the final spot.

43 required for the Africans to win here with 11 overs remaining.

38 overs: Kenya 213 for 3 . Target 260

Sluggo's back for his ninth over. Kenya are still taking quick singles anywhere on the field.

they're prepared to take on the fielders in the belief that they won't make a direct hit for a run-out.

37 overs: Kenya 208 for 3 . Target 260

Tamauri's back with a tidy over. Kenya still pick up five singles though with some good running between the wickets.

36 overs: Kenya 203 for 3 . Target 260

Robinson is giving the batsmen plenty of width. He gifts them a wide then Collins Obuya takes four off a stray delivery down leg.

A single from Tikolo brings the 200 up. Nine from the over.

35 overs: Kenya 194 for 3 . Target 260

Four more for the experienced Tikolo - off his pads. Good over for Kenya and they're closing in on a win here.

The way results elsewhere have gone it looks like Bermuda may have to beat Holland and rely on Afghanistan losing to the UAE to go through - unless they make a comeback here.

34 overs: Kenya 187 for 3 . Target 260

Robinson's back and Tikolo edges through the vacant slip area for four. Nine from the over.

73 to win from 16 overs

33 overs: Kenya 178 for 2 . Target 260

Strangely Sluggo is fielding at extra cover and is one of the most active fielders in the game. the Kenyans are nudging it in his direction at times and and taking comfortable singles

Wicket!: Kenya 173 for 3 after 31 overs. Target 260

Obuya has gone for 63. Trott traps him lbw. Bermuda probably need to bowl them out if they are to win this game now or at least take enough wickets to slow the rate considerably.

That's a start, but Kenya have some big hitters to come.

30 overs: Kenya 170 for 2 . Target 260

90 required from the last 20 overs. Kenya are making what could have been a difficult run chase look very easy indeed.

Sluggo draws some cheers from the sparse crowd with a diving stop in the field but they are heading for defeat unless somethng dramatic happens soon.

28 overs: Kenya 161 for 2 . Target 260

obuya sweeps Sluggo for successive fours. He's in imposing form and there's little Bermuda can do about it.

27 overs: Kenya 152 for 2 . Target 260

Obuya 53, Tikolo 10

150 up for Kenya from 26.2 overs as Trott comes back into the attack.

Quick wickets are needed now.

Kenya require 108 to win from 23 overs.

26 overs: Kenya 148 for 2 . Target 260

Obuya 52, Tikolo 9

Leverock 0 for 23 off seven

The tactic of saving Leverock for later is out the window. At this scoring rate there will be no later.

The big spinner has four overs left.

A misfield from Robinson gives Obuya 3 and he's on to his half-century.

25 overs: Kenya 144 for 2 . Target 260

Steve Tikolo, veteran of 100 ODIs, is at the crease now he top edges a sweep from Tamauri but its safe and he takes three. A wide delivery from the youngster runs through for 4 more and at the halfwat stage kenya are well on their way at 144 for 2.

Romaine is off the field injured and Hemp has taken over captaincy duties.

24 overs: Kenya 133 for 2 . Target 260

A tight run-out attempt. Good piece of fielding from Outerbridge and Crockwell takes off the bails.

It looked close but the umpire says no. There's no tv link-up so he can't refer it and he errs on the side of the batsmen. Tucker gifts four wides in an expensive over.

23 overs: Kenya 122 for 2 . Target 260

Good spell this from Tamauri Tucker. He's stemmed the run flow and apart from that free hit six off the last over he's had the Kenyans tied down,

Wicket! Kenya 118 for 2 after 22 overs. Target 260

Janeiro gets his man. Obanda is out for a quick 15.

Tucker had bowled two excellent yorkers right in the block hole. He tried for a third but bowled a widish full toss. Obanda's eyes lit up as he went for another big six. But he mis-times horribly and the catch is well held by Hemp at mid-on

21 overs.: Kenya 116 for 1. Target 260

Obanda takes six more after Tamauri bowls a no-ball - gifing him a free hit. He cashes in carting it over the long-on boundary for the maximum.

Kenya are cruising - 11 from that over.

20 overs: Kenya 105 for 1. Target 260

Janeiro is back on now that Ouma has gone.

Sluggo is being held back for later.

Tucker is taking some punishment though and Alex Obanda cracks him for a big six to get off the mark and bring up the hundred for Kenya from 122 balls.

Wicket! Kenya 98 for 1 after 19 overs. Target 260

Tucker makes the breakthrough clean bowling Ouma. Crucial, crucial wicket from the young spinner who has bowled excellently in a pressure situation.

He choked off Ouma's run supply, tempted him down the wicket and claims his man.

Ouma batted brilliantly for 51 from 60 balls and has put his team into a good position,

18 overs: Kenya 97 for 0. Target 260

Classy stuff from the Kenyans, wristily working the singles. This opening pair is a class act.

17 overs: Kenya 94 for 0. Target 260

Tidy over from Tucker who has made a nerveless start in his first ODI.

16 overs: Kenya 92 for 0. Target 260

Even Sluggo is hurting now. Eight from that oer as Obuya cuts through the off-side for another boundary

15 overs: Kenya 84 for 0. Target 260

Tamauri Tucker gets his first bowl of the tournament and immediately has Ouma playing and missing.

just four from that over.

Hemp's hundred was the highest total by a Bermuda batsman in an official one day international, surpassing Romaine's 101 v Canada.

It's his best score in a 50-over game for Bermuda too.

14 overs: Kenya 80 for 0. Target 260

Good stuff from Leverock his first four overs have cost just eight runs. If only he could bowl all 50!

13 overs: Kenya 79 for 0. Target 260

Ouma 51, Obuya 26

Ouma's half-century is up from 40 balls, including seven fours.

Seven more from that over. The Kenyans are able to find the gaps in the field at will and are well ahead of the run rate at this stage.

12 overs: Kenya 72 for 0. Target 260

Ouma 48, Obuya 22

Ouma takes four of the back foot from Sluggo then moves to 48 not out with a brisk single.

Bermuda desperately need a couple of wickets to slow the Kenyans down.

11 overs: Kenya 67 for 0. Target 260

Bermuda are bleeding heavily right now and Romaine has turned to his spinners to apply the tourniquet.

The Kenyans don't show Trott the same respect they do Leverock however, Obuya cashing in with a sweep for four in a costly first over for the young tweaker.

10 overs: Kenya 58 for 0. Target 260

Obuya is content to block out Leverock. He knows there's runs on offer at the other end and he's aking no chances against the spinner. Two from that over.

9 overs: Kenya 56 for 0. Target 260

Ouma 40, Obuya 15

That's the half century opening partnership from just 49 balls.

Ouma is speeding towards his half century and he slogs Robinson through the leg side for four more. He's 40 from 30 deliveries.

8 overs: Kenya 49 for 0. Target 260

Ouma 34, Obuya 15

Sluggo makes an early entrance in a bid to restrict the scoring.

And he's immediatley effective with a maiden over. the Kenyans know he's the trump card though and they're playing watchfully against him.

7 overs: Kenya 49 for 0. Target 260

Ouma 34, Obuya 19

Too much width from Robinson and Ouma wallops him through the offside for four,

He takes two more off his pads and Kenya are racing towards this target.

6 overs: Kenya 40 for 0. Target 260

Ouma 28, Obuya 11

These two are quick between the wickets and are picking up a least a single from virtually every ball.

Ouma flashes another drive through the onside for four and then Obuya joins the fun with four more with a lofted drive over mid-on.

5 overs: Kenya 28 for 0. Target 260

Ouma 24, Obuya 5

Ouma is blazing now. Four more through the leg side.

and a straight drive for two. He's playing good cricket shots too not the 'hit and hope' style opening we have seen from some batsman in this tournament.

4 overs: Kenya 19 for 0. Target 260

Ouma picks up four more with a beuatifully timed cover drive.

He's in fine form and has quickly moved to 14 from 14 balls.

3 overs: Kenya 13 for 0. Target 260

Robinson over pitches and Maurice Ouma crakcs him through the covers for four.

He then belts a powerful aerial cut straight to Blakeney who puts down a difficult chance.

He hurts his finger again in the process and is off the field. The same thing happened on Saturday against the Danes.

2 overs: Kenya 6 for 0. Target 260

Tucker isincredibly slow for an opening bowler. It's not his game, but he's risen to the challenge. How he bowls here could be pivotal in this match.

Not a bad start... just a handful of singles so far.

1 over: Kenya 2 for 0. Target 260

Good first over from Robinson who keeps it on the spot, Just two from it.

It's going to Be Janeiro Tucker from the other end. He's bowled well so far this tournament, so, this tactic might just work.

Scores from elsewhere UAE has posted 379 for 6 from their 50 overs and are on there way to victory against Denmark, Netherlands are 59 for one chasing Afghanistan's 204 for 9.

Bermuda 259 for 5

A dogged unbeaten century from David Hemp has helped Bermuda post a competitive 259 for 5 this morning.

Well supported by attacking cameos from Outerbridge (31 from 20), Blakeney (30 from 20) and Romaine (21* from 14), the in-form opener, relishing his new anchor man role, carried his bat through the innings for the second consecutive match.

He set the platform for victory with a century opening stand with Fiqre Crockwell, who made a composed 45.

Then picked up the pace to reach his hundred in the final over of the day as a succession of middle order bats wreaked havoc from the other end - guiding Bermuda to a very competitive total.

It was Stephen Outerbridge that gave the innings the adrenaline shot it needed with his excellent cameo providing the impetus for an onslaught in the final overs.

Blakeney and Romaine picked up where he left off as Bermuda scored 94 runs from the last ten.

It was by far Bermuda's best batting performance of the tournament so far against one of the top teams in this competition.

It's a good batting track and Kenya could still chase this target down. They have a storng batting line-up and Bermuda are a seamer down thanks to George O'Brien's injury.

Will be interesting to see who opens the bowling for Bermuda. It will have to be either a part-time seamer (Outerbridge or Tucker) alongside Jacobi Robinson.

those first ten overs could be crucial.

This match is very well poised. The batsman have done their job and if the spin trip of Sluggo, Tucker and Trott can tie up the Kenyan batsman then Bermuda can win this game and go into the final day of the first round with a real chance of making the Super-8s.

What a comeback from a few days ago and maximum credit must go to Hemp, who followed his unbeaten 76 against Denmark with 102 not out today for pulling this team back into the fight.

50 overs: Bermuda 259 for 5

Hemp brings up his hundred in style with a well-timed drive through the on-side for four.

Singles from every other ball as Bermuda finish with a very competitive 259 for 5.

49 overs: Bermuda 250 for 5

Romaine 19, Hemp 95

Romaine digs out the yorker well for one then Hemp drives and picks up a well-run two.

Another single takes him to 94. Romaine takes one with a drive down the ground and Hemp will have strike from the last over thanks to a single form the last ball - 250 up. Hemp's 95 not out in the final over.

48 overs: Bermuda 244 for 5

Romaine 16, Hemp 91

A selfless innings this form Hemp. he's not thinking about his century - just taking the ones and letting Romaine have the strike.

He deserves a hundred though and he could yet get it.

47 overs: Bermuda 234 for 5

Hemp 86, Romaine 15

Romaine is off the mark with a leg glance for four.

The wickets may be tumbling bit Bermuda are doing what's required - pushing the run rate up.

Romaine works four more through leg and then is lucky to survive taking two more from a difficult dropped chance. An aerial tickle to leg lands between two fielders. Variaya just about gets there but he puts it down.

Four more off the edge for Romaine and a single to finish a big over for Bermuda, 16 from it. Really good stuff this from Bermuda.

They looked dead and buried in this tournament, but they may be back in business now.

Wicket! Bermuda 219 for 5 from 46 overs

Tucker's off the mark with a single.. two balls later and he's out.

A full blooded crack is well caught in the covers.

Earlier that over there was a beautifully timed drive through the off-side for four from Hemp. He's closing in on a century now.

Wicket! Bermuda 211 for 4 from 45 overs

Blakeney's gone. 30 from 20 balls for the Bailey's Bay man. he's out bowled going for another big shot last ball of the over...

Good little cameo from Blakeney

Earlier that over....

Comfortable single from Hemp off the first ball, then Blakeney benefits from a mis-field, picking up a boundary through the off-side. That's the fifty partnership from 35 balls.

A swing and a miss from Blakeney then another single.

A great stop prevents Hemp from picking up four with a crack through the off-side. They get one.

44 overs: Bermuda 204 for 3

Hemp 78, Blakeney 25

Single from the first ball of the over then Blakeney sweeps round the corner for four.

He follows up with a beautifully timed pull in front of square for another boundary to bring up the 200.

250 is on the cards now. great stuff from Blakeney. he has his eye in now and he and hemp are picking up the pace beautifully.

Kenya can't have been expecting this after looking at the results from previous games.

Two more for Blakeney from a flick off the pads and a well taken single from a late cut. he's moved to 25 fro 16 balls.

Hemp pushes and runs for another single off the final ball of the over.

43 overs: Bermuda 191 for 3

Hemp 76, Blakeney 14

Blakeney joins in the fun, belting four through the covers from Ongondo.

He takes a risky single from the next ball then calls Hemp through for a quick one from the third ball of the over - good running. Two more singles - eight from the over.

42 overs: Bermuda 183 for 3

Hemp 74, Blakeney 8

Variaya's back into the attack as Kenya turn to spin.

Blakeney's immediately after him with a cover drive but he's foiled by an athletic diving stop on the boundary. The Kenyans have had a few fumbles in the field but on the whole they've been sharp. they must have cut off about 20 runs with good stops in the covers and on the boundary.

There's no stopping the next two though as Hemp drives consecutive deliveries down the ground for four - 12 from the over.

41 overs: Bermuda 171 for 3

Hemp 64, Blakeney 7

Sharp single from Blakeney who pushes to silly mid-on and sprints through for one.

they have to take every run on offer now... I'm predicting a score of around 230, hoping for 250....

Six from that over - all singles.

40 overs: Bermuda 165 for 3

Good running from Blakeney and Hemp. Bermuda's 165 with ten remaining. An onslaught now would give them a good target to defend, Can they push on for 250 plus

Wicket! Bermuda 157 for 3 after 39

Cann has gone for one.

He's caught at mid-wicket attempting to cart Peter Ongondo out the ground on the on-side.

Blakeney's in to replace him. Let's hope there's no collapse now.

Wicket! Bermuda 154 for 2 after 37.5

Outerbridge has gone for 31 from 16 balls, caught on the boundary off the tidy seam bowling of Elijah Otieno. It was exactly the same shot he was dropped on earlier - an aerial pull to square leg.

He's done exactly what was needed and injected an adrenaline shot into this innings.

Lionel Cann comes in to replace him and this situation is made for him to reprise his finisher's role from the ICC Trophy four years ago.

37 overs: Bermuda 152 for 1

Outerbridge 30, Hemp 58

Outerbridge escapes. he mis-times a pull-shot which is dropped on the boundary. That was an easy chance - a dolly. bermuda will accept the gift with both hands.

He takes a single to bring up the 150.

Outerbridge is playing the right way. Bermuda has to take risks. Plenty of wickets in hand still and all the big hitters to come.

36 overs: Bermuda 149 for 1

Outerbridge 28, Hemp 57

great running between the wickets from this pair as they take three from a mis-field.

The seamers are back on now as the Kenyans attempt to respond to Outerbridge's onslaught.

35 overs: Bermuda 137 for 1

Outerbridge 21, Hemp 55

Outerbridge is rising to the challenge. He strikes a flashing cover drive for four and then blasts Tikolo over the top for six.

He's even taking on Kamande from the other end launching another six over mid-wicket.

They're taking the singles well now - great running between the wickets and Bermuda's innings sudeenly has some momentum. Outerbridge is 20 from 9 balls.

These two had a great little partnership against Denmark on Saturday and this is just what's required now.

Though there is still some concern about the scoring rate this has been solid from Bermuda today - they are facing, lets not forget, one of the best teams in the tournament.

Wicket! Bermuda 107 for 1 after 31.3

Crockwell is out for 45 from 89 balls. He deserved a half century but it's not to be today. He's caught at point from an uppish cut.

He's done his job, though and set the platform for the innings. Now it's time for the middle order to pick up the pace.

Hemp brought up his fifty in the 31st over. He doesn't even raise his bat to celebrate this time.

He knows the real work is yet to be done. He has to stay there till the end and push towards a competitive total. Outerbrdige joins him at the crease.

30 overs: Bermuda 105 for 0

Crockwell 45, Hemp 45

A century opening partnership comes up in the 29th over. This is the first century partnership I can remember for Bermuda. That's just off the top of my head. Write in if you can remember one.

The spinners are still in the ascendancy however and Bermuda are on target for a fairly low total. There's still time to pick it up, but they have to start taking chances now.

25 overs: Bermuda 93 for 0

Crockwell 40, Hemp 41

Spin from both ends with Jimmy Khamande and Variaya starting to assert some control.

Bermuda are scoring at 3.7 an over.

They have the solid base, wickets in hand, now they simply have to push on. There are no easy runs on offer against the spinners, though.

We're seeing the pros and cons of this opening strategy. Bermuda haven't lost early wickets, which put them on the back foot in the first two games, but it's not been a blazing start,.

On balance, this looks like the right strategy, though - at least we should bat through the overs today.

20 overs: Bermuda 73 for 0

Crockwell 34, Hemp 34

Just a handful of runs off the last five overs. The run-rate is a shade under four an over. Not bad at this stage, particularly with ten wickets in hand.

If they can keep it like this until the halfway stage and then pick it up, 250 plus is a possiblity. I think they would need at least that to beat Kenya on this pitch, particularly with only one recognized fast bowler in the squad.

The downside is that Kenya's left arm spinner Hiren Varaiya is into the attack. He's been a thorn in Bermuda's side in the past and is capable of economy rates that make even Sluggo look expensive.

An interesting aside: There's a story on the web this morning that Ireland have banned alcohol in their camp for the duration of the tournament and are enforcing it with breathaliser tests.

15 overs: Bermuda 64 for 0

Crockwell 30, Hemp 30

Another half-century opening partnership from these two. Crockwell has got his drive going and is playing with no fear.

He looks confident and composed and is providing more fuel for those who felt his performances in the Caribbean should have earnt him a first team place from day one.

Hemp, too, has taken to his opening role. Good little start this for Bermuda.

Kenya have four quicks in rotation right now. They are all looking lively but so far Bermuda's batsmen have been equal to everything they have thrown at them.

Elsewehere in the group UAE are well ahead against Denmark - 132 for 1 after 24 overs and Afghanistan are struggling on 81 for 4 after 23 overs against Holland.

Whatever happens today, Bermuda will be still in this tournament tomorrow. But we have to keep a close eye on other results.

Currently Bermuda are fifth in the group after two defeats and one win. All the other teams have two wins and one loss, except Denmark who are winless. The top four go through to the Super 8s

10 overs: Bermuda 47 for 0

Crockwell, 24, Hemp 22

A great start for Bermuda with Hemp and Crockwell looking very composed.

One big six for Crockwell over the mid-wicket boundary was the highlight of the morning.

He's cashed in, in that area on a couple of occasions and has moved to 24 from 28 balls.

Hemp is playing very well too, picking up where he left off on Saturday against the Danes. He's already got his cover drive in action and looks settled. Hopefully he can bat through the innings again. If he does Bermuda will be in a good position to win this game.

There has been some joy for the Kenyan bowlers however. Both Crockwell and Hemp edged through the slips on separate occasions, but well wide of the filedsmen.

Pre-amble: We're back at the magnificent Senwes Park in Potchefstrrom as Bermuda attempt to continue their revival in this tournament.

On paper this is the toughest game in the group stages. the Kenyans made the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2003.

they have already annhialated UAE and Afghanistan - two teams that beat Bermuda last week.

This is going to be a tough, tough game.

Kenya wins the toss and puts Bermuda into bat. hemp and Crockwell open up.

Bermuda go into this game with only one recognized seamer as George O'Brien is out injured.

Tamauri Tucker replaces him, meaning Bermuda has three spinners in the attack. it's potentially a good ploy as the spinners have held sway in this tournament so far, but who is going to take the new ball for Bermuda???
