FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28: Softball’s all-star games saw two wild affairs and one blow-out on Thursday night at Michael Preece Softball Diamond.

The night’s main event had Bermuda take on the World and emerge with a 30 to 24 victory.

Players were selected based on their country of birth, regardless of status.

The Bermuda men fell behind early and were down 1-3 after the first inning and 6-7 after two.

They managed to knot the score at 7 in the third before pulling out to a slim 8-7 advantage after four innings.

It was the bottom half of the order that kept Bermuda in the game as Lovintz Tota homered, and Preston Mallory, Richard Medeiros and Andrew ‘Bingy’ Simpson paced the attack.

The World side moved out in front again as John ‘Jacko’ Jackson – Wednesday night’s winner of the home run contest – hit the first of his four consecutive homers.

Jackson was a one-man wrecking crew for the World side, driving in 11 runs on the night.
A big eight-run fifth inning helped put Bermuda in front as Terence Corday hit a two-run shot.

After a tepid sixth inning, the World retook the lead in the seventh to go up 20-19 on another Jacko blast, plating Scott Campbell and Mark Bohrer.

The bottom fell out for the World in the eighth as Bermuda scored 11 times. Tracey Bean homered and Justin Barritt doubled.

The World managed to plate four runs in the top of the ninth, but the rally fell short.

The A Division all-star contest pitted players from Docksiders Tuff Dogs and Rosa’s Cantina Banditos (Blue) against Precision Panthers and Bermuda Pest Control (Red).
Red led 7-0 after two innings as Richard Medeiros and Terence Corday both homered.
Blue’s tailenders wagged the lineup as their side scored five runs in the third to make a game of it and then opened the floodgates with eight in the fourth to take a 13-7 lead.
Lez Dziwenka had the big blow in the fourth in hitting a grand slam.
Blue’s bats were shut down for the third through fifth innings before they managed to put across two runs in the sixth. Two runs in the seventh brought them closer but Blue prevailed 14-11.

C Division

The C Division all-star game opened the night’s festivities but all the fireworks were provided by Black Magic and Flanagan’s G-Shocks (Red) who romped home to an easy victory over players from the Corporation of Hamilton and Where My Pitchers At.
Red relied on three big innings as they scored nine runs in the first, 10 in the third and eight in the fifth. Micah Meens was the big bat as he hammered two homers for the winners while Paulo Arruda hit a grand slam and Carlos Lima also homered.
Blue scored nine of their 10 runs in the fourth and fifth but couldn’t get their bats going on the night.

Women

World 22, Bermuda 8

This game almost ended early because of the mercy rule as the World side scored early and often against a Bermuda team which was forced to make changes in order to stay competitive. Carla Zuill provided the lone bright spot for the Bermuda women as she homered.

B Division
Red 14, Blue 8

Paraquet Flyers and You Know Dat took the Red team to victory over a combined side featuring players from Bermuda Water Tours and CITI.

5 n 5
Red 11, Blue 8

Precision Panthers and the Beach Riptide combined to defeat the BF&M Sharks and P&M in the last game of a highly successful all-star week.

Tracey Bean captained the Red side.
