This year, the BDOT increased its presence at the international event, which is billed as the one of the premier global events for the travel industry.
This year the Bermuda booth, topped with a giant pair of Bermuda’s trademark pink shorts, treated visiting media and trade representatives to the traditional Dark ‘n’ Stormies and Rum Swizzle, all against the backdrop sound of steel pan music.
Of the exposure, Tourism BDOT director William Griffith said: “World Travel Market is a fantastic opportunity to sell Bermuda to the UK market as well as the rest of the world. We had a packed schedule of meetings with suppliers, tour operators and media, all of whom are keen to help us drive visitors to Bermuda.”
Also during the event, Bermuda took the opportunity to thank partners for their support over the past year and preview activity in 2011. And two partners were singled out for their outstanding contribution to the island’s tourism industry in 2010. Sara Dolan, support account manager, British Airways, picked up the Outstanding Partner Award on behalf of BA Holidays while Dominic Hodson and Andrew Bird, both directors, from Purely Bermuda were recognised for Partnership Excellence.
