THURSDAY, MARCH 22: Bermuda’s misery at the ICC World Twenty20 continued today as they lost by 35 runs to the US.

The Americans won the toss and elected to bat and put up a thumping total of 193 runs for the loss of five wickets as the bowlers failed to restrict them.

Sammy Robinson took two for 41 with Rodney Trott 1-37, Joshua Gilbert 1-25 and Kamau Leverock 1-34 also taking wickets.

Dion Stovell, who has been so handy with the ball in this tournament, did not claim any wickets and was Bermuda’s most economical bowler at 8.25 overs.

Lionel Cann finally had the big innings he is capable of with a 73 as he was caught on the last ball of the match. Cann had four 4s and three 6s in his innings.

Captain David Hemp (27) and opener Fiqre Crockwell (23) were the only other Bermuda batsmen to reach double figures.

Opener Stovell was bowled for four runs with a strike rate of 36.36 and Janeiro Tucker, who has been so steady with the bat the past two matches, was bowled while on five.

The loss drops Bermuda’s record in the tournament to 1-7, with a lone win against Papua New Guinea saving the island from a whitewash.

Bermuda will now play Uganda, who lost to Hong Kong, on Friday, for 13th place.
