Bay needs to step it up
On Sunday at 11am
At Sea Breeze Oval
With the talent at their disposal Bailey's Bay would hardly have expected to be languishing in the lower reaches of the Premier Division at this stage of the season.
They hardly helped their cause with defeats against Flatts and Social Club last weekend and need to start getting more runs on the board to avoid a relegation struggle.
Burton Outerbridge is doing the business with the ball but his team-mates are giving him nothing to defend. Irving Romaine is getting good starts but needs a big individual score to help the cause.
Stars have been in and out of form themselves but surprised St David's last weekend and are always dangerous.
Southampton Rangers v Social Club
On Sunday at 11am
At Southampton Oval
Failure to hand in scorecards is all that is keeping Social Club off the top-of-the-table right now, with Charlie Marshall's side emerging as the strongest challengers to Rangers.
Clevie Wade's side have dominated the domestic scene for the last two years and were always expected to be up there.
But no-one was backing Social Club at the beginning of the season.
North Village football coach Dwayne 'Streaker' Adams and his main striker Nakia Smith have proved equally adept with the willow, bringing the Rams' winning formula to the cricket field.
Dano Outerbridge and Marshall, himself, are also contributing runs, and they've won all five games so far this season.
Whether they can take Rangers is a different matter. A different player steps up every time for the west end boys and with Cup Match selection wide open this year they all have a point to prove.
Somerset v Warwick
On Sunday at 11am
At SCC
It is proving to be a very difficult season so far for the two promoted clubs.
Even with Daniel Morgan back in the side and the return of several key players from school, Warwick have struggled to make enough runs to win matches.
They were skittled for less than 100 twice last weekend as they fell to consecutive defeats against Flatts and Social Club.
Somerset have had the opposite problem. They've generally been able to score enough runs but have given away too many in the field.
They've got the edge on their rivals in terms of experience but both are currently facing a struggle to stay afloat.
Flatts v St David's
On Sunday at 11am
At Lord's
After a slow start Flatts got their season up and running last weekend with consecutive victories.
If the win over Warwick was, at least partially, expected then the win over Bay was a genuine upset.
Lloyd Fray did much of the damage with the ball while player/coach Gary Brangman has been in some kind of form with the bat.
They will probably need to score more runs to beat St David's though. The islanders won one and lost one last weekend but in Delyone Borden they have the form-player of the league.
He's bowling economically, taking wickets and scoring runs right now and looks certain to continue with the national team.
First Division
St. George's v
Somerset Bridge
On Saturday at 11am
At Wellington Oval
Herbie Bascome recorded stunning figures of five for 13 in ten overs last weekend, continuing his great start to the season.
Last year's Cup Match captain has been the key player once again for his club side and has promotion in his sights.
Bridge are looking out of their depth once again and should provide an easy two points for the east enders.
Willow Cuts v Leg Trappers
On Saturday at 11am
At White Hill Field
Veteran Dexter Basden and left-hander Ryan Shepherd are in decent form for Cuts, with the latter aiming to score runs as he looks to attract the interest of Cup Match selectors.
Mid-table rivals Leg Trappers are always a tough opponent and are starting to get some wins under their belts after a rocky start to the season.
Devonshire Rec v
St. George's
On Sunday at 11am
At Devonshire Rec
Two of the promotion favourites go head-to-head on Sunday in what should be an interesting clash.
The fixture also pits two of Bermuda's most exciting young players Dean Stephens and Oronde Bascome in direct opposition and will no doubt be watched closely by Cup Match and national selectors.
Cleveland v Willow Cuts
On Sunday at 11am
At Wellington Oval
Surprise front-runners Cleveland will look to take advantage of the fact that Cuts are playing their second game in as many days on Sunday.
They've had lawyer Charles Richardson bowling well - he took five for last weekend - and Dennis Musson jnr also looks a good prospect.
They've needed to bowl well as their batting hasn't always been up to speed.
Somerset Bridge v PHC
On Sunday at 11am
At White Hill Field
Bridge won't win many games this year but this is one where they will feel they have a chance.
PHC have shown nothing with the bat this year and this should be another low-scoring encounter.
Police v Leg Trappers
On Sunday at 11am
At Police Field
It's an important weekend for Leg Trappers to see if they will be genuine promotion challengers or mid-table also rans.
They have shown plenty of promise so far and with the extended season they still have time to overcome a couple of early defeats.
If they are to have a chance of a top two spot, though, they will need to win matches like this and Saturday's clash with Cuts.
Central Counties
Police v Devonshire Rec
At 11am on Saturday
At Police Field
Police haven't hit their stride yet in the league but they elevated their form in the Central Counties.
The current holders hammered Premier Division side Western Stars in a high-scoring encounter at the start of the month, thanks to a century from Carlton Jackson.
Theoretically Rec should be an easier opponent than Stars but the First Division front-runners have been in good touch this season and would seem to have the beating of Police.[[In-content Ad]]
