Banditos rob Panthers of win
FRIDAY, AUGUST 26: Rosa's Banditos picked up their first win this week with a narrow triumph over PCS Panthers in softball action at Michael Preece Stadium.
A Division
Rosa’s Banditos 19, Panthers 18
PCS Panthers came two runs short of a marvelous comeback against Rosa’s Cantina Banditos. PCS plated seven runs with a furious rally in the seventh.
The two sides played a fairly even game Rosa’s holding a slight advantage until the fifth inning when they scored nine runs.
Tory Richard (2-4) hit three-run homers for Rosa’s in the fourth and fifth innings to help lead his side to the victory.
Gus Sanchez (3-4) Scott Campbell (3-4) provided lift from the top of the lineup Amy Renton and Rebecca Schoeler helped the cause by getting on six times in their eight at bats.
Lavar Basett (3-5) blasted a grand slam homer for Precision in the fourth. Garic Swainson (3-4) and Tracey Bean (3-5) both batted well in the losing effort.
C Division
G-Shock 12, Black Magic 7
Black Magic scored four runs in the first but Flanagan’s G-Shock came back with seven in the second to take a lead they would not relinquish.
G-Shock was going to play in the women’s league, but with the division folding, they are playing in the C Division and are allowed to use three men.
They are 2-0 in the season’s early going.
Carlos Lima did his job as the leadoff batter for Magic in going 3-3 while cleanup man Micah Meens was 2-3 with a three-run homer. Steven Rance (2-4) was their only other teammate to gather at least two hits.
Magic actually outhit G-Shock, but took full advantage of the seven walks issued to them, including six in the second inning. G-Shock only had one hit in the second but picked up seven runs as they plated four of the walks.
Tracey Bean was 3-4 while Preston Mallory was 2-3 for G-Shock.
