FRIDAY, MAY 11: Bailey’s Bay will take no prisoners at next weekend’s Belco Cup, according to talented seamer Lateef Trott

Trott told the Bermuda Sun that the team was full of confidence going into their clash with Devonshire Rec on Saturday and had its sights firmly set on winning the competition.

The teenager said: “We know we have got a good side going into the weekend.

“We want to get some big runs on the board and put them under pressure.

“We have a great bowling attack at the moment and we know we can knock them down.

“As a team we are taking this competition very seriously.

“It’s about doing the right things on the field and then lifting the cup at the end.

“When we get on the pitch this weekend against Devonshire Rec we are enemies and we have a job to do. That is to win the game.”

Bailey’s Bay will travel to Somerset Cricket Ground to take on Devonshire Recreation Club next Saturday.

While in the other semi final St David’s will enjoy home advantage as they square off against Willow Cuts.

Both games begin at 11am and the final takes place at St David’s next Sunday.

St David’s skipper and star batsmen Fiqre Crockwell said his side was looking forward to the chance of getting their hands on the season’s first piece of silverware.

He told the Bermuda Sun: “We are obviously happy we’ll be playing on home turf.

“That should definitely act to our benefit.

“The team is in pretty good shape.

“We have to be aware of a few of their bowlers like Malachi (Jones) and George (O’Brien) but once we see those guys off we can look to building a big score.

“The fact that we are in a cup competition will mean everyone will want to win this and we have to make sure we go out there and give it our best.”

The proceeds from the event will be donated to the BCB Pee Wee Cricket Programme that encourages children to get involved in cricket.

The games’ umpires will also donate their fee to the programme.

Andrew Parsons, BELCO President added: “We are very excited about hosting our 10th year of the BELCO Cup, a competition which we consider a community and family-based event.

“We look forward to two days of great cricket.”
