Athletic Club flash mobs Hamilton in aid of breast cancer
TUESDAY, OCT. 30: The Athletic Club stopped traffic with the launch of Bermuda’s first Flash Mob on Saturday, October 27 at 12 noon outside the Church Street entrance to the Washington Mall. Why all the fuss? To promote breast cancer awareness at their upcoming Party in Pink Zumbathon to be held at Cafe 4 on Wednesday, November 7th, 6-8 pm.
Zumba is a highly energetic form of exercise that has taken the fitness world by storm, fusing Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves that create a unique fitness program that will blow you away.
It’s time to get moving and help find a cure for breast cancer. “As 85% of breast cancer occurs in women who have no family history, early detection is extremely important.” says Kym Herron Scott, owner of The Athletic Club and avid Zumba enthusiast.
“Breast Cancer is a serious issue and for newly diagnosed survivors and those in treatment, it is a time of uncertainty. To see a Flash Mob locally in honour of breast cancer brought smiles on many faces and certainly touched the hearts of many more.” say Deborah Titterton Narraway, Marketing Coordinator at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. “The Athletic Club is continuing their support with their Party in Pink Zumba event which will surely help raise the spirits of those effected by breast cancer and raise needed funds to ensure that Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre continues to provide current and specialised breast cancer services to all men and women in Bermuda.”
Come and join us with your family and friends for this very worthy cause. Party in Pink will feature the Zumba team from The Athletic Club; Gina Miles, Nam Chau and Kym Herron Scott, and guest instructors from around the Island. Held in the courtyard at Cafe 4, Windsor Place, 18 Queen Street, Hamilton, registration at the door will begin at 6 pm or register early on www.zumbanam.com. Cost is only $25 and proceeds go to the Bermuda Cancer and Health. Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy the Pink-After Party featuring extended Happy Hour Cocktails, a Lobster Special and Sushi Rolls. Ditch the workout; join the party and don’t forget to wear your pink!
