Are you living your beliefs?

I sat at the bottom of Longford Hill, waiting to turn west, there was another car indicating to turn east coming from Olive Bank. There approached a car indicating to turn right onto Longford Hill, at last I thought, 'golden opportunity" ... certainly the driver would display road courtesy, let the driver from the Olive Bank location turn east, I then could proceed to turn west, whilst the approaching driver could turn up the hill. This one person had the power to assist in easing a turmoil, but instead the driver only thought of herself and went along her business, still leaving everyone to wait. The driver I spotted was a church going, bible stumping person and I thought 'how un-Christ-like of her". Here she had every opportunity to put her principles into practice and instead she blew it. She could not even follow simple road courtesy! Unfortunately this is the way most of us act; heedless of our behaviours - we say we are God loving, yet we act otherwise to each other. We so quickly give lip service on how Christian or Muslim, we are, but we don't practice or follow the ways of the Prophets that were sent to us by God. God sent to every people and period an example in the form of a Prophet, together with His book, so if we could not read, we could at least follow the example of the prophet sent. How miserable we have failed.

This weekend is Easter and for Christians the focus will be on Jesus Christ. I only trust and hope that for those whom exalt him, that it will not just be for Easter, but let arise from them, his Christ like attributes and behaviour ... not just for Easter ... but for always.

"Say: we believe in God and in what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il: Isaac, Jacob and The Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus and the Prophets, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another, among them, and to God do we bow our will (in Islam)." (Qur'an, Al-Imran 3:84)

Muslims do not celebrate Easter, however all of us should reflect on the following ayat of the Qur'an "Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to an agreement between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allah, and that we shall ascribe no partner unto Him, and that none of us shall take others for Lords besides Allah. And if they turn away, then say: Bear witness that we are they who have surrendered (unto him)."

Muslims have the perfect example in our dearly beloved Prophet Muhammad ibn Abdullah (pbuh); thus we too have no excuse to act other then the practices of our dearly beloved Rasululah (saw). Allah in His mercy says to us "This day have those who reject faith given up all hope of your religion: yet do not fear them but fear Me. This Day have I perfected your Deen for you, completed My Favours upon you and have chosen for you Islam as your Deen" (Qur'an Al-Maaidah 5:4). In the completion and perfection of the Deen (religion) lies the greatest blessing which Allah has bestowed upon the Muslim Ummah (nation).

And further in God's boundless mercy, He gave to us the perfect example to live by in Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) - we should all be desirous of wanting to follow the noble ways of the Sunnah (the behaviours of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)) which nurtures and brings out the very best of us as being human beings - this should be our relentless goal. The following ayat is one that we should reflect upon often: "Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah." Qur'an 33:21. Ameen.[[In-content Ad]]
