In semifinal action yesterday at the Bank of Bermuda Foundation / ITF Junior World Ranking tournament, no.2 seed, Nadja Gilchrist delivered nothing but crushing ground strokes to quickly dismiss Britain's Nicola George, 6-0, 6-1.

Gilchrist's strength and dominance combined with her confidence proved to be a lethal concoction and George had no answers.

Gilchrist needed only 59 minutes to secure her berth into today's final.

In the other Girls semifinal, it was Monica Yajima from the U.S. with a convincing win over fellow American, no.7 seed, Emilia Monell, 6-1 6-0. Yajima, who has yet to drop a set in the tournament simply outplayed Monnell and remained confident throughout the entire match, hitting winner after winner and painting the lines. Today's final will be an all-American match-up.

In boys semifinal action, qualifier Jamie Whiteford from Great Britain, was recharged after his gruelling quarterfinal match from Wednesday and defeated American Max Stevens in straight sets, 6-2 6-1.

Stevens appeared to lose his concentration and was not able to get his head back in the game.

His frustration got the better of him and along with some racquet throwing and self-deprecation, Whiteford was able to capitalize and take the match.

"I'm very happy to be in the final, especially as I had to qualify. I was a bit lucky to come through my quarterfinal match on Wednesday, 6-4 in the third set. I was really struggling. Luckily there were paramedics standing by."

The second Boys semifinal saw Whiteford's doubles partner and fellow qualifier, Britain's Chris Harrison battling back from a set down against Britain's Max Gregor. Harrison.

After levelling the match in the second set, Harrison dominated the third set, giving up nothing and securing his place in the final, 2-6 6-3 6-0. "I'm glad to have won my semifinal today. I saw a bit of Max's quarterfinal and thought I had to attack but in the first set I was trying to finish the points a bit too early. It all came together when I started building the points a bit better. Even better, I've got my doubles partner in the final."

All final matches will be played today at the WER Joell tennis stadium and the public is encouraged to come out and support. All results from yesterday will be posted at www.bermudasun.bm.[[In-content Ad]]
