WEDNESDAY, OCT. 24: Alterra Capital announced four personnel changes to its Bermuda reinsurance division.
Greg Haft is the new managing director, head of US Property Catastrophe Underwriting effective immediately.
Other immediate changes include Peta White as managing director, head of International Property Catastrophe Underwriting, and Martin Vezina will be managing director, head of Retrocessional Property Catastrophe Underwriting.
Mr Vezina will also underwrite for New Point V, one of a series of sidecar vehicles that Alterra has established to create additional capacity for the property catastrophe collateralized reinsurance marketplace.
In addition, Andrew ‘Barney’ Barnard becomes senior vice president, International Property Catastrophe Underwriting.
An Alterra spokesperson said: “Each of these underwriters has exhibited strong technical proficiency, leadership qualities, and a long term, profitable track record. We are fortunate to have such a deep bench of underwriting talent within our ranks and we will strive to provide the highest level of service available in the Bermuda market or elsewhere.”
Mr Haft has worked as a US Property Catastrophe Reinsurance underwriter for Alterra since 2005. Previously he was assistant vice president and Casualty Actuary for Chubb Re Bermuda.
From 1993 to 2002, Greg worked in various capacities for Chubb Insurance Company’s actuarial department, culminating as Manager of the Personal Auto portfolio. Mr Haft graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan with a BS in Statistics and Mathematics and holds the designations of FCAS, MAAA, CCRA.

Ms White has worked as an International Property Catastrophe Reinsurance underwriter for Alterra since 2006.
Previously, she was with Ace Tempest Re, where she most recently served as vice president, Underwriter, International Department.
Before 1998, she worked at CAT Limited. Ms White graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA, USA.
Mr Vezina has worked as an International Retro & Property Catastrophe Reinsurance underwriter at Alterra since 2005. From 2000 to 2005, he held the position of vice president, International Property Catastrophe and Retro Reinsurance Underwriter at Chubb Re. Prior to joining Chubb Re, he worked for Overseas Partners Re and also American Re in various actuarial positions. Martin graduated from Laval University in Quebec with a B.Sc. Degree in Actuarial Sciences and holds the designations of FCAS, MAAA, CPCU, ARe, and CCRA.
Mr Barnard has worked as an International Property Catastrophe Reinsurance underwriter for Alterra since 2009.
From 2005 to 2009, he was with White Mountains Re, Dublin and Bermuda.
Previously, Mr Bernard served as a broker with Willis Re in the retro team. He has also been an international treaty underwriter with Gerling Global London Market and Eagle Star Re.
Mr Bernard, who started his reinsurance career with Greg Fester Ltd in London, received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1992 from Oxford Brookes University.
