The Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) is pleased to announce the Under-13 and Under-15 National Academy squads.
The selected squads will be undertaking a specialist training programme throughout the winter.
Players will be divided into their area of specialty (batting, pace bowling, spin bowling and wicketkeeping) and will be coached in technical, tactical, physical and mental domains to improve their game.
This specialist coaching is key for the development of our young BCBNA players across all domains. It is particularly important for the pace bowlers to develop their technique as well as their physical attributes to prevent injuries that are so common in fast bowling.
The specialist coaching team includes national team assistant coach Clevie Wade (batting), national coach David Moore (batting and wicketkeeping), national pace bowling coach Lorenzo Tucker and national team player Joshua Gilbert (spin bowling).
The specialist coaches will work alongside the Academy coaches to develop the players’ skills and to identify and resolve any technical issues players may have. These sessions will also assist in the development of our Academy coaches.
Moore said: “I am very excited to have these three coaches working with our Academy squads. Clevie Wade is the National Team Assistant Coach and a renowned Bermudian batsman and international cricketer.
“He has a depth of tactical and technical batting knowledge and is currently completing his Cricket Australia Level III. Lorenzo Tucker has been the BCB Fast Bowling coach for 12 months and has attended specialist fast bowling workshops at the West Indies High Performance Centre.
“He is a student of the game and utilizes technology widely to analyse the detail of fast bowlers actions and implement technical and tactical programs for young fast bowlers.
“Joshua Gilbert is one of our International off spin bowlers who debuted for Bermuda at 16 years of age. Joshua has just returned from the UK on the Youth and Sport National Junior Athlete sponsorship program where he experienced six months of quality spin bowling coaching at the Norfolk Cricket Academy.
“I am very pleased that Joshua has agreed to work with our Academy spinners and impart some of that knowledge for both his own development and the development of our young cricketers. He is wonderful role model for our aspiring young cricketers."
Players and Parents are required to attend a National Academy Meeting on Friday, October 19, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at Charities House, 25 Point Finger Road, Paget.
