WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26: It’s that time of year again when the air chills the bones and rings with the haunting cries of the undead.

We have pulled together a list of petrifying parties and ghoulish gatherings taking place across the island.

There is everything from fearsome fun days for the kiddies to fancy dress events and underwater pumpkin competitions.

The girls from Lush offer devilish tips on this year’s top make-up trends and the guys down at Games + Flix select the scariest rental DVDs for the Hallowe’en holiday.


Saturday, October 29:

  • Fetish at LV’s

Fetish will take place on Saturday night at LV’s featuring DJ Spin Citi from New York. The party is costume-only and best costumes will prizes. The party is being put on by the Fantastic Five. DJs include I-Mega, DJ Aztec and DJ Keem in addition to the guest DJ. Asked why people should come out, organizer Rowan Ramotar said: “There is no limit to what you can wear. This a one hundred percent costume party in an upscale venue. If you don’t have costume, you won’t get in. ” There will also be VIP tables. Janson Cross of the Fantastic Five added: “We are bringing in a world famous DJ from New York.  It’s his first time in Bermuda, so we want to show him how Bermuda parties.” Tickets are $25 and available from Jazzy Boutique, Kit N Caboodle, event DJs or any Fantastic Five members.   • Hallowe’en Costume Party at Hog Penny

This is the first Hallowe’en Costume Party hosted by the Hog Penny’s “rock ‘n’ roll jam super group” Hog Fish who will be there to provide live music until the deathly hours. Dress in your scariest costume and you could win prizes in various “distinguished” categories. Saturday is a double celebration as it is also popular rock singer Will Black’s birthday. The show starts at 10:30pm and runs until 1am.

  • Hallowe’en Bash at Blackbeard’s Hideout 

The “Jewel in the Town” of St George’s is throwing its Hallowe’en party with live entertainment from local five-piece band Next Level. The band performs a wide range of music and there will be dancing all night long. There will be dinner from 6pm to 9pm by reservation and special happy hour prices.

  • Hallowe’en Super Saturday — Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art

Free fun at Masterworks including Hallowe’en themed crafts for all ages. The event takes place from 10am until 2pm.

  • Barmuvinjam and Secrets Bash

Secrets and Barmuvinjam will host their annual Hallowe’en party at The Deep this year. The party is costume-only and will feature music by D’General and D’Nice. Secrets Owner Stacy Hill said that dressing up “makes a difference because you can be somebody else for the night and live out your fantasies.”There will be music by D’General and D’Nice. Tickets are $25 and costumes are mandatory.

Why not try the new special drink called true blood that will be sponsored by Burrows and Lightbourne?

The party will start at 10pm until 3am. Tickets are $25 and are available at Secrets in the Washington Mall. Tickets are limited.

  • Lost Souls at Moon

Bermuda’s only indoor/outdoor nightclub Moon will be transformed into a scary wonderland. Last year turned out to be a popular event. DJ Bitsy will be bringing her intense energy to the show, there will be prizes for best costumes and drinks specials. Arrive early to avoid the line. Call 595-6666 to reserve a private room and bottle service. Runs from 10pm to 3am.

  • BUEI Members’ Hallowe’en Party

There will be fancy dress, face painting, arts and crafts, films and quizzes and much more at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute’s Hallowe’en party for members only. The family fun takes place between 1pm and 4pm.

  • Mariners RFC Hallowe’en Party at Flanagans and Outback

There will be prizes for the best and worst costumes. Always a popular and fun event. From 8pm to 1am. Tickets are $20 and available from www.premiertickets.com.

  • Teachers RFC Annual Hallowe’en Bash at Docksiders

Drinks specials and music from DJ Smokey. Tickets are $25 and available on the door.

Sunday, October 30:

  • Harness Racing and Hallowe’en Celebrations at Vesey Street

The drivers and ponies are enjoying another race day in the 2011-12 Harness season. They hope to continue make this season a fun and successful one for all involved. As the race falls on Hallowe’en Eve....there will be entertainment during and after races. The fun takes place at the National Equestrian Centre on Vesey Street, Devonshire from 12pm.

Entry is $5.

  • Underwater Costume and Pumpkin Carving Competition

Blue Water Divers is holding its annual underwater pumpkin carving competition and costume competition. The second in this year’s series runs from the Somerset Bridge facility (Robinson’s Marina). All participants must be at the shop by 10:30am to sign in — the boat leaves at 11:15am and returns to the dock at 3pm. All snorkellers and certified divers are welcome but must wear their scariest Hallowe’en costumes. The two-tank dive costs $95. Prizes for the costume competition include an Oxygen Provider Course, a free lesson for a non-diving friend and a one-tank dive. Prizes for the pumpkin competition include a signed Teddy Tucker print of the Blanche King, a regulator service and a copy of the Wonders of the Deep.  To book call 234-1034 or 232-2909 or visit www.divebermuda.com.
