$250,000 on the line for Twenty20 qualifiers

Bermuda will get a chance to win $250,000 at the World Twenty20 qualifier next year. Belfast, Ireland was selected as the host of the inaugural competition. Besides Bermuda and Ireland, the four other leading associates will take part as well and that includes Kenya, Netherlands, Canada and Scotland.

The three-day tournament will take place on August 2-4 and clash with Cup Match, which ends on August 1.

The national team currently doesn't have any games scheduled until June and July of next year when it takes on Canada in three One Day International matches and a four day match.

The top two teams will qualify for the World Twenty20 championships in 2009 in England. The top two teams will also winUS $250,000.

ICC Global development manager Matthew Kennedy said in a press release: "This event gives the top six associates the opportunity to qualify for the 2009 World Twenty20 in that format of the game."[[In-content Ad]]
