The Corporation of St. George's held Municipal elections to fill the vacant Alderman post when Mr. Garth Rothwell was appointed Mayor.
Minister Fahy, who has the responsibility for Municipalities, said in a press release he "very much looks forward to working with Mr. Richardson, Mayor Rothwell and the entire Corporation team to revititilise the Old Town. Sadly the economic challenges have had a terrible effect on St. George's, its surrounding businesses in the area and its tourism sector.
"This Government stands behind the efforts of the Mayor and the Corporation to get the St. George's economy moving again. And it's my hope to meet with the team in the near future to discuss the way forward for the Old Town."
